3 Things That Can Get You Excited About Life Again

They're so simple that you may have missed them altogether

A lot of people will dismiss these suggestions just because they're simple.

Why?

Because they think that if solutions aren’t involved, complicated, expensive, and somehow exclusive to the very elite, they can’t have value.

What idiot ever told you that? Whoever it was, you’d better rethink that concept. All of the following elements may not work for you, but some of them will. And with fabulous results.

Here’s a helpful tip. All the changes you don’t try will have a 100% failure ratio.

Did you wrap your head around that? Good. Now let’s get started.

Ways to Recharge Your Excitement for Living

1. There is nothing as good for the inside of a person as the natural world outside.

Sunlight brightens our mood and gives us a sense of wellness. It provides Vitamin D that enhances our health. In addition, being exposed to natural elements actually improves our immune system.

Try this: Schedule for outside time — 15 minutes each day, 1 whole day a month, and 1 whole week a year. If followed, you will have given yourself a priceless gift that will enhance your joy of living.

Bonus benefits: Extra benefits come when you make an effort to appreciate what you see, hear, and feel. Think in terms of the wonder and beauty that surrounds you. Think about why you find a sunrise beautiful. How many types of grass did you walk on that day? Why do some birds sing and others don’t? Why does the sound of a soft breeze in the tree above you seem to carry your stress and anxiety away with it?

2. Laugh more. If you can’t laugh, smile more. If you can’t smile, crack a grin.

For some, this is a huge change. The chaotic world around us has sucked much of the laughter out of our lives and left us with lips that have forgotten how to smile.

Try this: If necessary, fake it until you make it. Schedule your laughter/smiles. Each day give 2 to strangers, 2 to co-workers, and 6 to close friends and family.

Bonus benefits: Find a reason to make these genuine. Think of it as paying forward some of life’s blessings for which you never said thank you. Think of it as a valuable investment in your future. Think about what surprises may come your way because you made an effort.

3. Just a little help is needed.

Every day, everywhere, everyone needs just a little help. It doesn’t take special circumstances or skills to teach yourself to see these opportunities. It may take a little time because, again, the chaotic life we live has all but rendered us blind to the needs of others.

I’m not talking about changing the world. I’m talking about changing one small moment in someone else's life.

Try this: Help a co-worker complete a mundane task. Visit those you know in a nursing home or hospital. Take flowers to the widow on your street. Mow your sick neighbor’s yard. Take your elderly grandmother for doughnuts and hot chocolate one morning. Sit on the ground and let your children spin tall tales with you.

Bonus benefits: There are hundreds of small things we can do to help others feel needed, loved, remembered, important, appreciated, and cared for. But the amazing thing is, they all miraculously energize us, giving us joy for life that we didn’t know we could possess.

Feel the Excitement

As I was writing this article, the little hairs on my arm began to stand up and wave at me. It was as though they were saying, “Here I am, send me.”

More and more ideas began to formulate. So many that I began to make a list for myself.

If this happens for you, don’t squash the glow.

Don’t extinguish the flame.

But blow on that flame as if your life depended on it. For truly, the extent to which you can find excitement in living is measured by the size of your flame.
