3 Surprising Lessons I Learned From Failure

Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently

I didn’t realize how hard life could be since I started a business with all my efforts and fail in the way.

I can say something like it was the worst decision in my life but was all the contrary, It was the best decision I made because of all the experience I learned and all things that I´ve had to face gave me a deep understanding of life that I’ve never appreciated if I wouldn’t have done it.

This experience gave me some life lessons that I would like to share with you.

1. Failing gives you courage

We can spend our lives trying to find a way to excel in our lives, have that spirit of achieving greatness and being illuminated with an idea that can change our lives, however, even though we plan things carefully along the way, can arise many difficulties

It can be comments from people who don´t trust in your dreams demotivating you, or not having enough support to do it and your attitude towards these difficulties can determine whether you become successful in what you want to achieve or not.

With so many things on our mind and so many difficulties, we begin to feel weaker and without the strength to move forward, we can feel paralyzed and afraid.

The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have. — Vince Lombardi

But you have to change your way of thinking, and not give up and remember the reason why you are fighting so much and where you want to go.

What to do:

You need to analyze what is the main reason for what you want to accomplish and why you want it so much, it could be that will bring you happiness, freedom, or because it will bring well-being to your family.

And if possible have it written down and always carry it with you so that you can re-read it in the most difficult situations.

Courage is not having the strength to go on; it is going on when you don’t have the strength

— Theodore Roosevelt.

2. Failing gives you new opportunities in your life

If we try, we can fail or win, but if we don’t try, we won’t have the opportunity to win. Sometimes we are very afraid of trying new things, but we do not know how much we can lose if we do not give ourselves the opportunity to try.

We are not aware of everything that we could learn from just only trying or the new opportunities that might appear, apart from the experience gained along the way.

What to do:

Try more things and be open to different things and live a full life and enjoy every experience in your path.

Don’t let your fear deny your dreams, or let it define your existence. Take things with calm, you can get so many good things and create opportunities just by trying. Failing in the attempt doesn´t mean that you are not able to do it.

If there is something that you really want to do, do it, and if things go wrong, re-think it and plan how you could do it better. Don’t feel bad if things don’t work out the way you want them to, sometimes making mistakes is necessary to success.

As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being redirected to something better.

— Dr. Steve Maraboli

Years later I understood that we don´t have to feel so bad for every mistake and instead learn from them and know that eventually will lead us to succeed

Along the way, you will find new ideas, paths, and even people who will help you to achieve it. If we want it too hard, we will either find a way or make one

We know what we are, but know not what we may be.

— William Shakespeare

3. Failing gives you character

When you try something new you will experience strong emotions as you were in a roller coaster.

This can destabilize us both physically and emotionally, and realize that life isn´t as easy as we thought.

Failing gives you a deep understanding of life knowing that we have never for granted. It also gives you the resilience to face every problem in your life and change your attitude for complete.

Character consists of what you do on the third and fourth tries.

— James A. Michener

What to do:

You need to understand that you can´t control everything in your life, but you can do your best in the things that are over your control, life isn´t easy, we need to have in mind that failing in something doesn’t mean that we are not good enough. It means that we need to improve ourselves to make it better.

Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

— Francis of Assisi

Start with smalls goals in order to achieve the big one, fail all the times that will be necessary to aim your objective.

Don´t feel discouraged, have in mind that you are more close to your goal with every step you do.
