3 Steps to Get Over Vivid Dreams

OpticalNomad on Unsplash

There are mornings I wake drenched in sweat and struggle to distinguish reality. Dreams that are a crossbreed of regular activities and horrific events. I take these steps to combat them.

Step 1 Get Out

Step away from your bed. Separate yourself. Walk out the door the dream can’t get you in the kitchen.

Step 2 Contemplate

Think about the dream. Pretend you are an outsider looking in at your dream.

Why did it get you so upset? Was it all too real? What are the chances of it actually happening? If they’re high, what is worrying going to do about it? If they’re low, can you consider letting go of the dream?

Contemplate the reality. Don’t ruminate, question its place in your headspace.

Step 3 Acknowledge

After stepping away from the scene of the crime, interrogating it best you can it’s time to acknowledge it happened. Accept the dream existed, but it’s not reality, acknowledge it to break free.

I regularly use these and hope they help you too. Do you have any tips for getting over vivid dreams? 🙂
