Writing an article and waiting for your publisher to approve your work can seem like an eternity. So what do you do in the meantime?

Whether you write for a top publication or a small business owner, either way, you are waiting. This could be a few hours, a few days, or even weeks. Everything depends on your publisher's workload.

They may have a number of articles to read and review. Or they may have no articles in their pipeline and it’s a quick turn around.

In most cases, you have no idea. So you just sit and wait.

You can stare at the time on your phone and check your email every other minute for a response.

No response yet.

Don’t worry, because I have been in your shoes as well. I have to wait. I don’t get any special treatment. I’m just an average writer and far from a top earner.

These are three tips that I do while I wait for my article to get published or even rejected. When that happens, I get disappointed but I keep going. Rejection is just part of the process.

Step One

Keep writing. There is nothing that says you have to watch the clock and sit idle.

Start working on your next article. You have the time, so don’t waste it.

Time waits for no one.

Step Two

Find another publisher to submit your article to. J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter was rejected 12 times.

When you get one rejection, don’t let that get you down. There are so many more publishers out there. Or you may need to revise what you wrote and resubmit.

This may be a minor correction and publishers are too busy to give you an in-depth response. Their time is limited since they have dozens of other articles to read.

Step Three

Don’t quit. Just because someone rejected your article, life isn’t over.

Go back to the drawing board and keep going. Too many people take rejection the hard way.

Everyone gets told no on more than one occasion. It’s part of life.
