3 Steps That Help Me Get Out Of Bed As Soon As I Wake Up
We’re all familiar with the struggle of waking up in the morning, feeling as though our bed is telling us to stay, making it challenging to leave its comfort.
I noticed that I would feel sleepier and less energized if I chose to snooze the alarm and stay in bed for longer.
Here are the three steps that help me with that:
1. Morning Sunlight
Before going to sleep I make sure that my curtains are open so that when I wake up in the morning I can see the sunlight.
Melatonin is the hormone accountable for inducing sleepiness, so when we expose ourselves to morning sunlight, it helps regulate its production.
I also noticed that waking up in sunlight improves my mood as soon as I wake up.
2. Taking Some Moments To Set The Mood
After waking up with the morning sunlight on my face, I take a few moments to notice what I am feeling, how my sleep was, and if I dreamed of something.
Try not to think of the day ahead on this step, as you might get overwhelmed by the things you have to do. Just notice how you are feeling.
3. Getting Up Without Checking My Phone Before
After taking some moments to set the mood, I get up from bed, brush my teeth, and wash my face.
I noticed that when I check my phone, it becomes harder for me to get up, as my mind gets stuck on the information I saw on the screen.
Therefore, even if I am thinking about what messages I could receive or the notifications I have, I do not check them until after I finish my morning routine.
After brushing your teeth and washing your face, you can carry on with the morning routine you usually have, or start thinking of the day ahead.
It is also important to have a good night’s sleep to wake up easier in the morning. What helps me get quality sleep is listening to sleep hypnosis audio.
