3 Steps On How You Can Easily Analyze Your Best Medium Articles

There is a process to find your best articles.

When you first start writing, there are a few things you need to consider to find your best articles. Granted the first few weeks or even months when you write, this won’t give you an idea of what your audience really likes. Also, you may not even know what you like to write about.

After a few weeks of writing, you’ll start to see a trend. A trend is your friend, especially when you write on Medium.

So after you have written about 50 or more articles, you can do these steps to see what articles your audience likes, as well as does not like. There is no guarantee your review will last forever, so you need to do this process every few months. Your audience changes over time.

I do this process about every six months.

Each of these steps will produce different results. Sure, you want to write what you want. But this doesn’t always give you what your fans want.

You are looking for your true fans, similar to Kevin Kelly who wrote 1,000 true fans a few years ago. Your 1,000 true fans are better than having 5,000 fans. Your true fans will read anything you write and buy anything you sell. That is who you are writing for.

When I started writing two years ago, I wanted to write about stock investing. After a few months, I saw these articles were not my best articles. So then I tried other topics, including parenting, sports, and politics.

After trying these topics, I noticed two other categories did well. I found cryptocurrencies did well, as well as writing. I never imagined my articles on writing would do well since I was a new writer on this platform.

Maybe my past experience blogging and writing for newspapers helped.

My time as an analyst in the Army helped me see the numbers

As a writer, you need to know your numbers. You can write anything and use the biggest words in the dictionary, but this doesn't always pay the bills.

You need to take your writing to another level and do a little math. This is not Algebra II or trigonometry, but simple math. You know, 1 + 5 = 6. Yes, this is that simple, but a few more steps on your part are required.

Each of these three steps gives you different results. So it really depends on what is your goal as a writer?

It might be best to try all three of the tips I recommend, since each one will give you different results.

Final Thoughts

Each of these options gives you a different result. So you need to ask yourself, do you want more reads? More views to share information to a larger audience? Or do you want to write something for your true fans?

You may not know the answer immediately, but these tips should give you a better idea of what article to create.

Creating articles for your reader is key and should take precedence over your own personal preferences. This is hard but well worth it in the end.
