Isn’t it surprising when we find ourselves in crisis, many people thrive and achieve great things out of it while the rest of us fail?

Isn’t it shocking when we’re experiencing chaos in our lives, most of us become anxious, desperate, etc. but some people walk around as if nothing is wrong?

Don’t you find it surprising when some people, when they find themselves in problems, they walk around as if nothing is wrong while the rest of us cling ourselves?

Well, there’s a secret, and perception is the secret.

While most of us in tough times allow ourselves to be carried away by the wind of anxiety, fear, and desperation, those who thrive stay calm and attach the right perception to the problem.

Now to make this secret yours and thrive in chaotic times, the following three steps are what you’ll need to follow.

Step #1. Breath

Breathing, according to neuroscience, plays a significant role in the welfare of every individual while in chaos, mentally. If there’s anything that plays a significant role in the survival of humankind, it’s breathing.

Because without breathing, one can’t be alive.

Breathing, therefore, according to the experts, is everything, and to survive or thrive in chaos, it's required. As when you do, the sympathetic nervous system, which is active because of the situation, leading to fear, anxiety, anger etc. gets deactivated making way for the parasympathetic nervous system to be activated, which allows calm for you to be able to think right and come up with creative solutions to get out of the situation like Amit Ray put it;

“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.”

Step#2. Focus your attention on what you want

The things we choose to focus on whenever we’re in chaos determines the outcomes we get.

“Where attention goes, energy flows”. — Tony Robbins

This is because our minds cannot hold two things at a time but one. So in times of chaos, the things we focus on — being it the problem or how we’re going to come out of it, we get more of it. If our focus is the problem, then more of it is what we’ll get, likewise the solution.

Therefore, to thrive, we must focus all of our attention on what we want — which is the solution to get out of the problem and nothing else.

And this is where the real difference between those who succeed in chaos and those who don’t are seen.

Focusing your attention on what you want means thinking of creative ways to get of the problem which will require asking empowering questions such as; How do I get out of this problem? What can I do to achieve the result I want? What are the resources or the things I’ll need to achieve the result I want? Etc.

Asking these questions and more empowering questions help in coming up with solutions to achieving your aim and getting out of the problem.

Step#3. Action

From the dawn of time till now, if there’s anything that differentiates people from each other, it’s the action and inaction they take and don’t take towards what they want from life.

Between the rich and poor, the haves and haves not, those who succeed and those who don’t, the action is what makes the difference.

“An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied.” — Arnold Glasow

Meaning action is everything to succeed and thrive in chaos.

Being able to calm yourself through breathing and focusing your attention on the result you want and coming up with creative ideas to solve the problem, the action is the next biggest thing that if you don’t take, the problem will continue to exist.

You, therefore, want to go all out and act on your ideas to solve the problem and succeed since it’s the only way and apart from it nothing else.

Life is full is problems. But to succeed and thrive while here means taking things easy by always keeping calm and focusing on what you want. As through it, you get to be creative and come up with solutions to the problems, and in doing so, you never want to underestimate these three steps.
