3 Spiritual Habits That Boost My Focus and Productivity at Work

Motivation is what makes us do the things we do. But motivation can die with time.

While some days you might practically jump out of bed ready to get moving, other days, you find your motivation dying to do anything.

It comes down to one simple thing: How bad do you want it?

You know how resolutions often go: you set a goal and start strong… then the motivation runs out and feelings of frustration and shame creep in.

The struggle is real — but what if it doesn’t have to be?

At that moment I knew that my life started to become my life. I was sitting on the couch, just chilling and doing nothing extraordinary.

I was present in what I was doing in my life, and it came through so strongly that it was noticeable.

I like to think that even though I get anxious sometimes, it is not even close to the anxiety and panic attacks I had in the past.

What do you value most in life?

What do you look forward to doing?

“Passion for your work is a little bit of discovery, followed by a lot of development, and then a lifetime of deepening.”

#1 Practice silence for greater clarity

I’m free for 10 minutes, just to sit here in silence, and I’m not going to lose track of time, because that timer’s going to go off when it’s time for me to get up.

If you’re at all overwhelmed by meditation, or anything like that, set a timer on your phone for 10 minutes, and be in silence for 10 minutes.

That’s it. The only way you can fail is if you judge yourself, for any part of your experience.

If you go, oh, I shouldn’t be having these thoughts.

Oh, I shouldn’t be thinking.

Oh, I shouldn’t be feeling this way.

Oh, I shouldn’t have thought that way.

That the only way you can fail at silence is to judge your experience.

Stay relaxed but attentive in your silence.

#2 Make truthful affirmations

Every morning I make a conscious effort to do my affirmations and a bit of gratitude journaling. I am not 100% regular though. You know, sometimes life happens.

I’ve been practicing affirmations actively for one year now. It helps me feel more aligned with why I’m doing it and enables me to visualize success.

An affirmation is simply a written statement that directs your focus towards something of value.

“Affirmations are statements that we say to ourselves that can shift our mindset and make us feel better about ourselves.”

#3 Visualize everything

I will recommend not just visualizing the result, visualize, in fact, more important, visualize the activity that you are doing.

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow. — Helen Keller

See yourself getting on the phone to make those cold calls or emails.

See yourself opening your computer to write those words that are going to make that into a book.

See yourself going to the gym or lacing up your running shoes and heading out your front door.

Especially if you don’t feel like it or you don’t like doing those things.

See yourself doing it with a smile on your face in a way that’s appealing.

When I was training for my first half marathon I hated running.

So every morning I visualized myself enjoying running.

And because I did it in the morning in my living room, when it was time to run

I had already created this anticipation that I would want to do it and then I felt that when it was time to go for a run.

And that’s the power of visualization.

Now when you say visualize yourself doing it actively, just like dreams or a movie.

Lastly

Honestly, these spiritual habits helped me accept myself and love myself instead of self-criticizing all the time.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you are. — Carl Jung

You don’t need to start with all three. Pick anyone and do it for a few days and see how you feel and if it’s making any difference in your life.

Are you feeling focused, motivated, or calmer to start with?

A thriving mind and body can help you achieve massive success and crushing audacious goals.

It can also help you come closer to self-awareness and direct towards your purpose too.
