There are two type of individuals who are reading this article:
- The SAAS founders who need more help with getting more eyeballs on their software, platform, or application
- The consumer who is looking for up and coming software that will help them in their business
Whatever your place, I’m the latter of the two.
The individual who likes to Google Research in their spare time to find a software platform that can do XYZ things.
Here’s a few things I’ve been able to find solutions for in my Google Research escapades:
- Automate Pinterest and Video Creation in less than 10 seconds
- Turn a blog article into a faceless Youtube Video
- Turn my blog articles into ebooks and automatically distribute it across major ebook marketplaces
I’ve been very productive in my Google Research escapades, but in order for me to find solutions to the above statements, I needed software tools to assist me with the process.
The problem is that I can’t keep Googling my time away until I find an answer.
I needed one place to satisfy all my software needs and curiosities.
Luckily, I found 3. Let’s get into it.
Appsumo give me the lifetime deals
Since learning about Appsumo, it’s been absolutely life changing for me, and my wallet.
One of the things that bugs me the most with software is that it becomes a fixed monthly cost.
Essentially, if you didn’t use the software you still have to pay for it. Also, you need revenue cash flow to cover your monthly software expenses.
There had to be something better.
Thankfully, with the Appsumo marketplace you can find software that is specifically meant to be sold as a lifetime deal -> You only pay once and you never have to worry about fixed costs.
You’d be surprised to know that you can find a lifetime deal for software for under $200. I’ve gotten alternatives to Hypefury for less than $150 → For Life!
However, here are the downsides that you need to consider.
From what I’ve seen, the majority of the companies that are offering lifetime deals for their software are newer companies. Meaning that they’re still somewhat in the beta process. That’s the exchange you give up when you pay for lifetime software.
The company itself is still trying to perfect their software and they need users to give them feedback in the process. It’s a small price to pay but depending on the company you can be a major feedback inputter and see your ideas be turned into action.
In order to combat this concern, I recommend that you only invest in software that has a good amount of “Taco” reviews on their product. Also, if you’re hesitant to make a purchase you can submit a question before purchasing it. There is also a 60 Day return policy from the time of writing this article that Appsumo offers to its customers.
Your Software Alternative Matchmaker
This marketplace is something that has recently popped up in my radar.
Product hunt is a great marketplace to find alternative software products to your favorite softwares. Additionally, I’ve seen some “out of the box” software tools that you don’t generally see mass advertised to the public.
An example of this is when I found a tool that could automatically make faceless YouTube videos from my blog articles — how cool!
It’s also a place in my opinion where you can go down a rabbit hole. Because it’s a great marketplace where you can find software alternatives you will find yourself continuing looking for alternatives of the alternatives that you found.
My advice is to come in with an intention of what you want to find, and stick to it. Compare each software’s prices and see what works best for you.
The Automated No Brainer
This strategy to find software is not what you would typically think to do.
But here’s one thing I know to be true, if it’s not integrated with Zapier I’m not investing in it.
Here’s why, I personally like to hyper automate my business and Zapier is one of the best no code automation tools on the market that allows me to connect different softwares together.
If I cannot integrate my softwares to communicate with each other then my business productivity is dependent on me logging into the software and using it. Which in theory, I should be, but I rather have an automation do it for me.
“I do not want to be the bottleneck to my business’ productivity.”
With that in mind, I look at the list of Zapier integrations and individually check to see what apps are integrated with Zapier. If I come across a platform that I think is interesting then I’ll take the time to scope them out, review their pricing, and review their triggers/actions within the Zapier platform.
If I like it then I’ll add it to my list of softwares to purchase.
Note for all the SAAS Founders: Please, and I say pretty please, do not undervalue the marketing power of having your software be integrated with Zapier. If your tool is integrated with Zapier you have a whole pool of individuals that would be interested in using your tool. Start integrating with it already.
In summary, you’ve learned how to significantly decrease the amount of time you’ll spend finding your next software tool. I’ve shown you 3 marketplaces that I religiously use to find the best deals and tools for software in my own business.
