3 Easy Side Hustles Freelancers Can Add to Their Income Stream

Get on board with these easy to start side hustles that will have you making money in a month or less.

These additional income streams can help add extra money to your pocketbook when the notary work slows down. As a freelancer or independent contractor with these companies, you can set your availability and work when you need some extra cash or full time if need be. Also, they provide training to learn and utilize their platform or website successfully.

As a notary and signing agent, sometimes our closing assignments can slow down because of interest rates going up, and when the housing market fluctuates during times of economic instability. It’s good to have some additional side hustle work when there are times like these. Don’t sleep on these as they can keep you afloat in those notary signing agent downtimes.

Now, some of these side hustles do require some skill and minimal education. The amount of income you make depends on your effort and the time you can spare and commit to it. I’ve worked all three of these at one time or another. The entry is easy and the money can be very good.

ESL Tutoring. This opportunity is massive all across the United States. Foreign countries love for their citizens to learn English. Parents want their kids to be bilingual and that second language is usually English. They seek out English-speaking teachers and tutors online through hundreds of companies. I initially started tutoring Chinese kids with a company called Qkids.com. This online company hires English-speaking adults to teach young children as young as 4 years old and up. Usually, there are between 1 and 4 kids in each half-hour class. You must have a quality computer with a good headset and a quiet background.

The lessons are in real time with fun, user-friendly software, and the kids are eager to learn English and are adorable. You must have a 120-hour TESL certificate. This teaching certificate is easily obtained online and is quite affordable, and I can show you how to get one within a week.

Another great online tutoring company that I still work with today is Cambly.com. This tutoring platform serves both adults and kids. I now prefer the adults because you can engage in some great conversation along with helping them learn and improve their English speaking skills. The lessons are provided for you to engage the students, but you can also use your own material if you prefer.

Another work from home side-hustle, I’d like to share with you is being a home-based call center agent. I worked from home with a company called Liveops.com for several years. This company has been around since 2000, and it’s considered one of the leading home-based call center companies in America. I enjoyed working here because the work was 24/7 and they had great contests for their agents to win extra money during their work shift. I could also set my schedule to work when I wanted, and hop on calls when they needed extra agents to work if I was available.

When performing call center work from home, you must have a good computer with a strong internet connection. You also have to have a quality headset and a quiet background. You will be trained thoroughly to take calls from national infomercial products, various telethons, and food ordering companies like Pizza Hut. Sometimes, it does require you to upsell a product or service, but if done successfully, you’ll receive bonus money. Their sales training will help you learn to convert those upsells to get that extra cash.

Another great side hustle I’ve done is performing onsite business inspections. These inspections are required when a company wants to utilize consumer credit information to determine if a potential customer is creditworthy and also to make sure information is kept in a secure and locked location within the premises. One of the companies I worked with is Complytraq. They have a great inspection agent platform that sends you alerts when there is an order in your area. There are many companies that do inspection work and look for quality people like notary signing agents because they know we are background screened and are bonded by the state we reside in.

With business inspection work, you are basically interviewing the owner or the person in charge of the financial information, and taking photos of various areas of the company. The inspection can take about 25 minutes and the pay can start at $25 per inspection but can go higher depending on the size and location of the business. I’ve done as many 4 in one day usually within an 90 minutes, depending on the location.

Once the inspection is complete, you upload the pictures and the report to the company through their mobile app. There are many companies looking for freelancers to help with these types of inspections as well as equipment inspections.
