3 side hustles I plan to try in 2024
I hate the ‘new year, new me’ cliche
A new year means a chance for new opportunities. If you’re like me, you enjoy the thrill of trying a new side hustle or starting a different project.
Once you determine it’s time to start a new side hustle, the harder question to answer is; “Which side hustle should I start?”
Narrowing in on a side hustle can be as simple as starting a passion project, like publishing a book, or something you’ve been meaning to get around to. For me, it’s the latter.
I plan to try three new side hustles in 2024 because I finally have time to get to them. Some hustles coincide with gigs I’m already doing. Others are totally new to me.
However, one variable remains constant for me: All three side hustles are overdue for me. Meaning, I should’ve already tried my hand at them.
Anyway, here’s what I’ll be trying to monetize this year.
Selling niche blogs
Right now, I have a small portfolio of niche blogs to my name. Only one is profitable. And that’s the one I plan to sell.
Why sell a blog that is making money? Because Google killed it. More specifically, Google killed a lot of its traffic.
The blog I plan to sell literally just started earning hundreds of dollars every few months. Then came Google’s most recent update in fall 2023. It made my blog’s traffic plummet and it never recovered. The money the blog was earning also fell.
However, even though the blog’s traffic drastically dropped, it’s still valuable. It’s still earning some money and has built a bit of domain authority. I’m confident someone will want to buy the blog on Flippa and I’ll be able to make some money from it.
Selling the blog will allow me to turn my focus toward another blog in my portfolio and give it my all.
Stay tuned to see how the sale goes. I plan to sell it late in 2024.
Fiverr…again
I tried selling services on Fiverr years ago. Hated it.
But now I have a booming newsletter that I’m looking to monetize and feel Fiverr could be the place to do it. Keyword: could.
Maybe I could promote books in the newsletter? Or something else?
I’m looking for ways to keep it close to my newsletter’s side hustle theme.
If you have any ideas for monetizing my newsletter, I’m all ears! Also, if you’d like to pay to promote your book via my newsletter, just let me know.
YouTube
I started publishing YouTube videos of my dog for shits and gigs a few months ago. I wrote about it here.
That channel now has more than 100 subscribers. Not a lot, I know. But way more than I thought it would.
In 2024, I plan to try and monetize this new YouTube channel. I’m not sure how we’ll get past the watch time qualification, as it’s really high, but I hope that giving the account my full attention will make a change.

Takeaways: A new year is a good time for change
I hate the cliche of “new year, new me.” However, a fresh calendar is a great time to start new projects. A full calendar year makes new projects easier to track in the future and feels like a fresh start.
Even if one of the three side hustles I plan to try in 2024 goes halfway right, I’ll consider myself a winner.
