3 Quotes from Tom Brady That Will Inspire You to Be Great
The odds were stacked against this man, and he’s accomplished more than anyone could have expected

Arguably one of the greatest athletes of all-time, Tom Brady will go down in the history books as a legend. His story is inspirational because nobody believed in him. He was the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft.
Tom is 6'4", 225 pounds and nothing particularly impressive when compared to the build of Lebron James. It’s not surprising that he went as late in the draft as he did because of his build, but when you look at the intangibles like his leadership and desire to win, he’s unbeatable.
If you follow sports even a little, you know his name and the impressive accomplishments he holds. He has six Super Bowl rings and has appeared in nine Super Bowls.
Here are three quotes from Tom Brady that will inspire you to be great.
Quote #1
You have to believe in your process. You have to believe in the things that you are doing to help the team win. I think you have to take the good with the bad.
— Tom Brady
In my personal philosophy, I preach so much about believing in the process. Brady thinks the same. If it weren’t for him keeping a long-term perspective, then his career would’ve tanked. But he kept practicing his craft, learned consistently, and made it to several championships.
If we look at the 27–3 deficit Brady faced in the Superbowl versus the Atlanta Falcons, Brady’s mentality is perfectly portrayed.
When nearly all hope was lost, he stayed the course and kept grinding and believing his team would win. Sure enough, they did.
When you have doubters at the beginning of anything new, you have to stay the course. Just because your parents, family, or friends don’t believe in you doesn’t mean you should give up.
Please don’t stop until you’ve given it everything you’ve got.
Quote #2
You never get over losses. I’ve never gotten over one loss I’ve had in my career. They always stick with me.
— Tom Brady
Losing has a lot of meanings for different people. Some look at failure as a giant red stain, while others look at it as a valuable lesson.
Brady isn’t superhuman. He’s just learned how to celebrate the highs and learn from the lows. Instant gratification would be nice, but it’s not realistic. Football and life both have several ups and downs, and it’s up to the individual to respond positively.
If you crumble under the pressure of taking a loss, it’s going to be nothing but downhill from there. When I wrote my first blog post, it got five views. I was more impressed that someone actually clicked on my work rather than saying, “only five views?”.
Gaining perspective and learning from failures are the greatest teachers in life.
Anyone who’s ever succeeded wishes they could tell anyone at the beginning of their process to hold tight, keep learning, and good things will happen.
Quote #3
See, there are a lot of guys who are all talk. They say they want to work harder and be the best, but they never pay the price.
— Tom Brady
Talk does absolutely nothing. All those people hear are words without any actions backing it up. It’s not worth believing in something until you see it.
If you want to work harder than the rest, don’t tell everyone you want to. Just do it. There’s nothing that talking does except create expectations for yourself from others. If you like the pressure of being the best, good.
But when you’re struggling to succeed and it takes extra time, you’re not going to feel too great. Just put in the hard work, shut-up, and keep grinding.
I could talk about how badly I want to have an insane blog following, but that does absolutely nothing. So I just shut up and keep writing every day.
Trust the process and believe in yourself. If you can’t believe in yourself, why should anyone else?
Final Thought
Tom Brady has taught me so many life lessons and is a role model for many people like me. When you see the odds stacked against someone, but they still succeed, that’s powerful.

When you want something bad enough, you’ll do everything possible to achieve it.
You can do it.
