Does it frustrate you when you see others achieving the things you aspire to, knowing how hard you are working yet feeling a bit like the dog chasing its tail?

This is one of the most frequent reasons goal-oriented clients seek me out. They are committed goal-setters but are not getting the results they expect and are frustrated.

So are you ready to know what those 3 Powerful FAQs To Become A Successful Goal Achiever Now Are? Even More So I Bet You Are Here For The Answers!

FAQ #1 To Become A Successful Goal Achiever Now is “Why Isn’t Goal Setting Working For Me?”

It all starts with having the right goals. Goals are good, but not all goals are equal. Change is challenging. Goals are all about change. If you have a goal to exercise for 1 hour daily, that is a good goal. It will improve your health. As stated, it is lacking the power to sustain itself when life gets challenging.

The power for any goal comes from your power of why. That “why” must be sufficiently powerful to drive action when you are too busy or when you are not in the mood, when the weather provides a challenge, or when any other obstacle appears.

The Power of Why comes from your Unique Definition of Success. This is the key to being a goal achieved. When you have identified what matters the most to you and why, this is the template for creating goals that will get you where you want to go. These goals will be linked to your core values, which represent your Power of Why. This is what drives their achievement.

FAQ #2 To Become A Successful Goal Achiever Now is “I Have Business Goals And Personal Goals, It Just All Feels Overwhelming.”

Of course, it does. You are bouncing from one goal to another without focus or commitment. Your focus is fragmented and nothing is happening.

The key to success is to use Your Unique Definition of Success to create your long-term goals. Create goals in each of the 7 key areas of your life. The 7 Pillars of a Happy & Successful Life will help you do that.

When you do this, you will know what your “whys” are. You will be able to weave together everything you have learned about yourself to create Your Unique Definition of Success.

This becomes the template to create your long-term goals. Reverse engineer them. If you are going to achieve X in 10 years, what needs to happen in 5 years. This is a benchmark to track your progress. What needs to happen in 3 years, in 1 year, in the next 90 days, this week, today?

90 Days is an actionable time frame. What are 3 goals you need to accomplish in the next 90 days to move you towards your long-term goals? Do not focus on more than 3. If you do, your focus will be fragmented and nothing will happen.

Reverse engineer those goals back to what you need to do today. If one is completed in 30 days, it is okay to add another as long as you are not focusing on more than 3 at any one time.

At the end of 90 days, set 3 more goals. Do not set goals in the same 3 pillars you have been focused on. It is ok to keep one or even two pillars for the next sequence but variety keeps you energized and ensures balance in your progress.

As this process begins to feel comfortable, you will be excited to see your progress without ever feeling overwhelmed.

FAQ #3 To Become A Successful Goal Achiever Now is “I Start Like Gangbusters And See Good Things Happen Then Life Gets In The Way And I Lose My Momentum.”

There is a magic bullet to solve this problem. It's called learning to prioritize keeping commitments to yourself. You are an honorable person. It is important to you that you keep your commitments to other people. We are vulnerable to being over committed. When this happens, most often our commitments to ourselves get shoved on the back burner.

You keep commitments to others because it is your integrity on the line. You want them to trust you to do what you say you will do. Trust is an essential component of any healthy relationship.

What about your relationship with yourself? When you don’t keep commitments to yourself, you are teaching yourself that you can’t trust yourself.

OUCH!

Is that really what you want to teach yourself? I doubt it.

Each evening, as a part of your evening routine, have a personal accountability session with yourself. Did you do what you committed to doing today to move you forward towards your goals? Did you do it to the best of your ability? This is not a time for rationalization. It is a time for personal introspection.

  • Perhaps you over committed
  • Perhaps you got distracted by a shiny object
  • Perhaps you went through the motions without commitment and focus
  • Perhaps you nailed it and deserve a giant pat on the back.

This is a time for brutal honesty. No rose-colored glasses or expectation of perfection.

When you set the right goals for the right reasons, and create your personal roadmap to achieve them, and become accountable to yourself for all of those small and large decisions that impact your progress. Miracles happen.

You wake up one morning and realize you are one of the goal achievers others are looking at and wondering why you are achieving your goals when they aren’t.

It is time to celebrate.
