3 Podcasts Worth Every Minute
Inspirational people and stories that will make us think, ponder, and guide us.
I love books | I love movies | I love podcasts | I love stories
Stories have a way of making us think. They seep into our minds in ways we cannot understand. It is no wonder, that mythology and culture are passed down to generations via stories.
Stories carry messages which make it consumable for us.
All through my years of reading, I stayed away from personal development books. I was biased and categorized them as preachy.
The hype around ‘Monk Who Sold His Ferrari”, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” or “The Road Less Traveled” never made sense to me. I was naive.
YouTube changed my perception of personal development and life-changing talks. I heard people like Tony Robbins, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Mel Robbins, Brene Brown, Sadhguru, and the value of their talks stayed with me.
I ventured into reading “Awaken the Giant Within” by Tony Robbins, “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr. Joe Dispenza, “Inner Engineering” by Sadhguru and realized the value of applying their teachings to my life.
Reading all this made me realize I love stories of people who went beyond their environment and changed their lives. The catch is, not everyone writes autobiographies, and not everyone has the inclination to document their lives.
The world is a gold mine of talent.
Podcasts are the ideal way for people to go about their daily chores while ingesting inspirational content and assimilating knowledge.
I delved into the world of podcasts as my companion for running. Some conversations blew my mind. I was hooked.
Think about a topic and you will find subject matter experts in conversation about it. Podcasts are a gateway to hear from people we otherwise would never have had a chance to know. Podcasts bring to us stories of people from different walks of life, their trials and tribulations, their knowledge, their successes, and failures.
I cycle through a bunch of podcasts: The Mindvalley podcast, OnPurpose with Jay Shetty, Unlocking Us with Brene Brown, The School of Greatness, Oprah Super Soul.
The Below 3 + 1 are my go-to.
The Tim Ferris Show
My first attempt at podcast was through this show. For starters, it is the most popular podcast, for good reason. Tim Ferris is the author of The 4-Hour Workweek, The 4-Hour Body, Tools of Titans, and Tribe of Mentors.
Let’s just say he knows a lot of amazing people across a breadth of industries.
The guests on his show will truly blow your mind. From Hugh Jackman, Elizabeth Gilbert, Balaji S, Naval Ravikant, Brene Brown, Seth Godin to everyone worth listening to are on this podcast.
My favorites on this show have been Hugh Jackman, Naval Ravikant, Seth Godin, Elizabeth Gilbert, and very recently Balaji S.
If crypto or blockchain has taken your fancy then you have to get onto this podcast and listen to episode #506 with Balaji S, #504 with Vitlaik Buterin, #499 with Katie Haun.
If there is only 1 podcast you will listen to then it has to be Tim Ferris in conversation with Naval Ravikant. It is pure gold.
The Tim Ferris Show caters to everyone and every topic. The insights from the guests are deep, well-articulated, profound, and caters to everyone.
Naval
This is a man worth listening to.
Naval Ravikant is an Indian-American entrepreneur and investor. He is the co-founder, chairman, and former CEO of AngelList.
But above all, he oozes wisdom.
The podcast is a collection of short episodes 2min to 8 min, packed with wisdom and knowledge on life, start-ups, philosophy, investing, money, books, and everything in between.
This podcast is my daily dose of motivation with its quick-bite format.
A few tidbits from Naval.
“A rational person can find peace by cultivating indifference to things outside their control.”
“Specific knowledge is knowledge you cannot be trained for. If society can train you, it can train someone else and replace you.”
Happiness, love, and passion…aren’t things you find — they’re choices you make.
A New Earth
A New Earth is 10 episodes of conversation between Oprah and Eckhart Tolle centered around every chapter from his book A New Earth.
Eckhart Tolle’s books The Power of Now and A New Earth are profound. A New Earth is almost like a sequel to The Power of Now. Both books guide you to the value of being in the present moment.
This conversation addresses questions from listeners and delves deeper into what it means to be fully present, what is ego, what is a pain-body, how to identify and let go of the pain body.
The podcast has a spiritual bend. Not everyone might be able to appreciate the perspective, but it is worth every minute.
The Ranveer Show
This is for all the Indian readers, or for everyone who is interested in talent and wisdom from this beautiful country. The young generation is taking India by storm. This podcast talks about start-ups, spirituality, ayahuasca, mindset, business, and everything under the sun.
The journey of Ranveer himself is inspirational.
I have been an avid podcast listener for a year. To me, they have been instrumental in creating content on this platform. For anyone who can't fathom reading a book, podcasts are your next best bet to imbibe knowledge. This know-how is current and very relevant to the times we live in.
These conversations saw me through the lockdown. I was inspired to start writing regularly, run programming classes for kids, it laid the foundation for my meditation practice.
Podcasts bring talent together. There is content for everyone. It is a fountain of knowledge from which everyone can drink.
