College is expensive. But amidst the looming threat of repaying student debts and the future, college students should take a step back and take advantage of all of the free perks and discounts marketed towards them.

For the past three years, I have benefitted from these discounts. And I am gradually coming to the realization that my beloved discounts and savings won’t be available to me once I graduate.

So I’ve compiled a list of all of the services I’ve personally taken advantage of during my college years.

Spotify/Hulu/Showtime

After a month-long free trial, college students are eligible for Spotify Premium Student with Hulu and Showtime. For $4.99 a month you get Spotify premium, Hulu, and access to Showtime. All you have to do is sign up using your school email. I split this plan with my younger sister (also in college), so we both pay less than $3/month for three services. You are eligible for Spotify Premium Student as long as you have an active school email so consider splitting this plan with a younger sibling or friend for longer coverage.

Prime Student

There’s nothing more efficient than ordering something off of Amazon and finding it on your doorstep in two days. But that luxury costs Prime members $99/year. With Prime Student, students get a six-month trial. And this includes access to Prime video, with thousands of different movie and TV selections.

Discover It Student Cash Back Credit Card

It pays to have good credit. But to establish good credit, you first need to get a credit card. Yet it’s difficult to be approved for a card if you don’t have good credit in the first place. This “chicken or egg” situation was what my friends kept running into when getting their first credit card. But the Discover It Student Cash Back card approves individuals with no credit history. Not only does the card have no annual fee, but it has great rewards. Students earn a $20 statement credit for each school year their GPA is above 3.0. You can earn 5% cashback at different places each quarter, unlimited 1% cashback on all other purchases, and Discover will match all the cashback you earn within your first year.
