3 Myths You Should Know on Writing About Money Articles that Makes it Sexy

Money articles are my top earners every single month

I started writing on Medium since money is one of my favorite topics to talk about. You probably had limited exposure to money topics in school. If you were like me, you probably learned about money in your 20s or even later in life. Maybe you are still learning.

For the last two-plus decades, I spent every day reading something about money. You can’t consider taking one class or watching a video to teach you everything you need to know. There is always more to learn. Learning about money is a lifelong process.

Some people say they could care less about money which to me is confusing. You need money to survive. If you don’t have any money, basically, you would live out on the streets.

Surviving today, you have to have some form of money whether it’s from your job, side hustle, and your investments.

Even though writing about money doesn’t generate thousands of dollars, I still enjoy writing about this topic.

If you want to write about money, these are my three tips.

• You need to build your fans who love money
• You need to walk the walk as well as talk the talk
• You don’t have to write about sex articles to earn money

There are other tips, but these are really the main points if you want to generate income as a writer. Writing about money is a tough subject and your readers will eat you alive if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

As I mentioned, everyone loves money but not everyone wants to read about money. People will think articles about money are either boring or complicated.

Usually, my money articles get some views but not a lot of read time. Every once in a while, I’ll pick a good headline and or photo that draws the reader in.

This past month, the talk about Gamestop grout a lot of readers to my top stocks for February. I have written about the top stocks of the month and they usually earn a few dollars.

For February, my top stock article could pass $10.

In general, my article about money that deals with investing habits or millionaires does well. They don’t earn three digits a month, but just enough to pay for a meal eating out.

You need to walk the walk as well as talk the talk

When you write about money, you better know what you are talking about. Granted you may not have years of experience, so when that happens, you need to back up your information.

There is information out there, so you need to put in the work when you do the research. You can easily search on Yahoo Finance, Forbes, or another money site to find the information you need.

Another hot topic lately is articles about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Whether you like them or not, you need to know what they are. Countries are researching adding digital currencies as an option for citizens and big businesses are investing in Bitcoin spending millions to billions of dollars. I’m sure your bank never told you that.

You can write about basic investing tips, hot investments, or even your personal experience. Don’t think you’ll generate a large following from the start. As a writer, you still need to put in the work.

You don’t have to write about sex articles to earn money

Maybe you have seen that some articles about sex do well, but you don’t have to write about sex to be a successful writer.

Sometimes you have to follow your passion for what to write about. Not everyone wants to write about sex whether it’s a personal experience or made up.

When I looked at Medium for top writers in money and investing, most of the writers were male with a few females who made the list. If you are a female, it could be tough to make the list but not impossible.

Writers are always writing about how to make money whether if it’s from your own writing or other ways to generate income as a side hustle. As I mentioned earlier, you need money to live unless you have a slush fund hidden somewhere to help you survive the day.

Final thoughts

Writing about money may not be sexy for you, but for many writers it is. Even Tim Demming writes several articles and they deal with money.

• You need to build your fans who love money. Create your fans of readers who love money.
• You need to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. Share your personal investing experience or write articles about others who have successfully navigated the path handling money.
• You don’t have to write about sex articles to earn money. Money may not be sexy but it can still get the job done.

When you follow your passion, this will show in your work. When you fake your work, you could easily lose the credibility of your reader.
