3 Mil+ Impressions & 95k Views Later — Is NewsBreak Really Worth It?
My honest experience, views, followers, and earnings.
Around late September, I found myself in a good position with Medium. But as time passed, I realized that I needed to diversify my income. I’m still new to being a freelance writer, so I am still setting up.
I began posting articles from Medium on NewsBreak. Quickly, my views started to soar once I understood the platform a little bit better.
Unfortunately, right as I began NewsBreak, my grandmother passed away. It was a devastating loss. During October and the last few weeks of September, I could not write. I let go of writing for a bit — I wasn’t going to put my grief aside to write.
Surprisingly through all of this, my stats didn’t waver too severely. In fact, I checked NewsBreak and my articles blew up. I had no idea that that would happen, but I am so glad that it did. I wanted to achieve this so badly, and I did it.
It wasn’t until mid-September that I was invited to the creator program. Once I was added to the creator program, that’s when things started to really change for me.
Creator program
Within my first two weeks on NewsBreak, I received an email from a NewsBreak community manager. I can’t go into detail about why they reached out to me. Anyway, long story short, I got added to the creator program because of how well my stories were performing.
So far, my thoughts on the creator program are relatively positive. I think the platform is good so far.
It was challenging to understand how appropriately title articles to fit NewsBreak’s content requirements. Meaning, to get my content tagged appropriately was challenging at first.
With the recent changes made, it will get even more strict. I think it’s great that they are cracking down on the spammers and low-quality content. But at the same time, I hope this platform can preserve the integrity and uniqueness of each writer.
Views
The views I received on NewsBreak were completely shocking. I had no idea that I would receive this many impressions and views.
I am still shocked that I received over 3 million impressions and over 95,000 reads. My views tend to go up and down a lot — which is to be expected, of course.
But out of all the content I have reposted from Medium to NewsBreak, my narcissist articles really get the most views.
Not all of my articles did great, though. I had some serious flops!

Followers
I had read previously that getting followers on NewBreak was the easiest. And that was entirely true for me. I saw that my followers were rolling in pretty steadily.
As I started to gain more traction and understanding of how NewsBreak operated, I was able to gain a modest following.
At the time of this article posting, I have over 2,000 followers. And I was recognized as a “community voice pro.”
Earnings
I know this is what you might be reading this article for. So I won’t make you wait any longer.
In my first month, I made $287 from earnings! It was such a surprise! I didn’t officially become monetized until the very middle of October. So I only had a payout for about 15 days or so. Still, I sure did turn a nice profit for the short time I was in the creator program!
The best part is that all the articles I posted on NewsBreak were copied and pasted from Medium. Eventually, I hope to make platform-specific content. But until then, this will have to do.
I made slightly fewer earnings in my second month on NewsBreak because I did not post as many stories. But I am grateful for my stories slowly making me $100 over one month!
From this short break from posting, I realized that I could make NewsBreak a passive income stream.
Overall, I am doing great on NewsBreak and have continued success. At six months, I will check in again to see where I am.
I am keeping this article (and subsequent articles) on my NewsBreak experience to inspire others and remember my own accomplishments.
I am beyond shocked at what I have achieved.
Now that I am wrapping it up with two months on NewsBreak, I have to say I love it. I’m sure things could change any day, but I am grateful for what I have accomplished. I can only continue to improve.
Looking back on where I was just a month ago and seeing the enormous strides I’ve made is absolutely fantastic.
Overall, I think I did great for my first couple of months. Yes, NewsBreak is totally worth it.
