Goat’s and Soda is a health and development blog from NPR (National Public Radio). The tagline of this publication is “stories of life in a changing world.”
Besides health and development, they also cover people and culture.
Fiction: The guidelines page includes some links to the stories they have published, and of course, you can read through the blog to get an idea of this. They are looking for stories covering trends in society, innovative programs that solve problems, activists, stories on new developments, and recent studies.

Nonfiction: Glimmer is looking for pitches about internet culture, tech trends, social media policies, web history, design, accessibility, and streaming. Your pitch to Glimmer should include your main idea, a summary of this idea, why it is relevant or time-worthy, who (audience description)would want to read this story, and examples of any sources you will use.

Bugle is a magazine for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation members — primarily hunters. It has a circulation of 225,000.
Nonfiction: They are looking for personal experience and essays with a word count of 750–5,000 words. They pay 30 cents a word and 1–3 copies.
Fiction: They are looking for humor, history, a slice of life vignette, adventure, conservation, natural history, children/juvenile, and book excerpts.
The stories must pertain to elk or wildlife in general, hunting, habitat conservation-related issues.
The word count can be up to 2,500 words. Payment is 30 cents a word and 3 copies.
