3 life lessons I learned from the movie Life.

Eddie Murphy, plus Martin Lawrence are two of my favorite comedians of all-time.

They always can make you laugh. But if you listen to them in interviews, you also can see how bright both of them are with their outlooks on life.

Not shocking they both have achieved success in their lives. Yes they have god given talent, but they also worked hard to get where they are it.

And you gotta have much respect for that.

Anyways…

They on their own have both put out great material in their careers, but when got together in the movie “ Life “

not only did the movie give you great laughs, you also got some perspective that you could use in your life.

And with me, I didn’t learn one life lesson.

I learned multiple.

In the movie life Ray ( played by Eddie Murphy )and Claude ( played by Martin Lawrence ) get accused of a murder they didn’t do and end up getting sentenced to life in prison. It’s a great movie of how even though we all go through some adversity in life, you gotta keep your faith and have hope. Something I will touch upon later.

But three things I learned from this movie are things I think about and carry with my everyday.

One is karma.

In the beginning of the movie, Rays character scams Claude out of his wallet in the bathroom when he pick pockets him. Then later on when him and Claude are down in a Mississippi bar, Ray gets hustled out of a watch he holds sacred to him since his dad gave it to him.

So you see what I’m saying?

You play in dirt, you get dirty.

And now Ray saw how it felt to lose something that you hold close to you.

Like they say, karma is a bitch.

Now even though Ray was a thief, that didn’t mean he had the heart of a killer. Which leads me to number two.

Two: Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Even though Ray pickpocket people, he did have a heart. When him and Claude get rounded up by Spanky Johnson’s men for business not being payed back for, when Claude was about to get drowned for skipping out on a ten dollar meal, Ray steps in and asks Spanky to spare Claudes life so he can help him run some liquor.

See most people just assume because someone breaks the law, they are the scum of the earth. And that’s not always the case. There are some people that yes do some interesting things to get income but that doesn’t mean they are all quote on quote “ bad “ people. Some still do have morals and a conscience.

It goes to show you, don’t judge a book by its cover. You might miss out on meeting someone or something great.

That’s why I always say “ you can never give up hope.

Which leads me to what I mentioned earlier for number three.

Three: Hope.

Think about this:

You are running to get some booze to help out off debts.

You get your money hustled by some con-men.

Then on top of all of that, you get accused of a murder you didn’t do and end up getting sentenced to life in prison.

Talk about soul crushing. Most people would give up.

And let their sprit just be destroyed.

But not Ray.

Ray was also very honorable in this regard as well. One that stood out among his other traits.

He never lost hope. He says how his dad had lost hope and hunt himself ( in prison as well ) so that’s why he wasn’t going to go out like that. He always stayed hopeful.

Even when he became a old man

he never lost the faith he would get out of prison one day. And that hope payed off because he and Claude finally did just that at the end of the movie.

So in closing, even though this movie is just a work of fiction,

there are still great things we can pull from it.

And keep these three things in mind:

Karma is a bitch. So treat others the same way you want to be treated.

Never judge a book by its cover.

And under no circumstances..

Never lose hope.

Because if you do that, just like a plant when you don’t give it water,

you will slowly wither away and die.

Don’t forget that…

Just know it will all work out.

So keep the faith.

Because it will all get better in time.

Trust me:)

Thanks for reading.

Take care.

Peace.
