How to Make the Difference Between a Flirt and True Love

I still remember my first love, and you won´t believe it but we still keep in touch after so many years. A friendship was built in time based on respect and care for each other, even tho we live different lives in different countries. On the other side, there are the other types of relationships, those that ended up with me being thankful for surviving and traumatized many years later. But we aren´t getting into the poison ones. I wanted to remind you of the playfulness of summer love and the joy experienced. I´m sure most of you had those, short, intense romances that happened during a season or just a couple of months. If you do, then I hope you will enjoy my poem. Thank you for reading. If you love my work and you want to be supportive, you can buy me a coffee https://ko-fi.com/katherinemyrestad

The Winter Love Melts In The Summer Sun

We met in the Christmasy December At Nora´s party, the church member. I was bored as a seashell on the sand, you, yawning behind the nightstand we burst into a laugh and start to talk, and the party wasn´t boring anymore. You were funny and charming, o, my, I was clumsy and blushing, and shy… You gave me a ride home late that night, after goodbye, you didn´t leave my mind, I thought about you in a constant way. The first date happened on the solstice day, you wear a black jacket printed “No War”, my dress was blue and my heart was yours, happy as I could be and over my heels was living the dream on Holliday cheers. Warning bells ringed and woke up some fears, they ask not to jump in or at least not rush, but I was already in love, so I just said: Hush! Christmas day arrived with deep snow, ended up kissing me under the mistletoe. Days went by so fast, like a push of a wing, suddenly, it was already spring. You took me to the lake on Saint Patrick to show me your magician trick… At the campfire, you played the guitar, among our friends, you looked like a star. Soon summer was there in a blink of an eye, So many plans we made for July, I had no clue, that on the bonfire night You had other thoughts for when summer arrives. Didn´t include me, not a bit, not at all, You had your eye on Nora Stevenson, Just in case you might not remember, she was the host of the party in December O, don´t worry about me, didn´t lose but won, cause in time you just stopped being fun the opposite you became an old grump. But thank you so much for the lesson hun: That the winter love melts in the summer sun.
