Are you mentally happy?

Just come with me. Today, I will let you know about the real happiness. But before diving deep into my personal experience, I will define mental happiness shortly.

What is mental happiness?

Mental happiness is all about the emotional well-being of your brain. The emotional well-being of your brain is characterized by having a sensation of contentment and peace on your nerves.

I suffered deep depression for so many priceless years of my life. I wasted so many golden opportunities to be mentally happy. When I say mentally happy it really means that, I tried to look happy but didn’t have the inner feeling of contentment.

Then one day, a diamond human being came into my life. He let me know the real face of happiness. He helped me all the way from that hell of depression to the peaks of happiness and joy. He told me the following ways to bring my life back to happiness.

1: Gratitude

The very first thing I started practicing was gratitude. Sometimes we become so hopeless in life. This hopelessness works as a blindfold. It makes us unable to see so many beautiful things around us. I started acknowledging the good of my life.

It really worked like magic. I realized that things were not wrong but my way to watch for them was wrong.

2: Social Connections

I ignored social gatherings for a very long time. I always thought that nobody out there was able to understand what I was feeling. But I was wrong.

He helped me to understand the importance of socializing.

After getting in touch with those people who energized me with their dosage of jokes my life started changing. I started realizing that it boosts my mood. From that day till now I practice to express my feelings as much as possible.

I came to know that everyone is having lows and highs in life. Connecting with people reduces stress and fosters a sense of belonging.

3: Be present, ignore past and future

“Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present”.

Bil Keane

This is the most important practice to become mentally happy. We waste so much of our energy thinking about past regrets and future plans. While doing this we ignore the fundamental thing that is present.

Try to enjoy your present. Do those things that make you happy and content. I started going on thrilling rides because I love it. I started traveling, gardening, cooking, and so many other things that make me satisfied and keep me in the present.

Takeaway:

I will close with a very important point. Mental happiness is a subjective experience. What brings happiness to one person may not be the same for another. Try to concentrate on your emotional needs.

Avoid copying others. Your script is your script. Nobody is perfect. Avoid showing off fake smiles. When you feel sad or angry just express it.

The ones who love you will never ask about your past and future. They will embrace you the way you are in the present.

Stay safe and be “Mentally happy”!
