3 Easy Ways To Love Yourself A Bit More Every Day

Spend a little more time on yourself every day

So many of us dedicate our lives to taking care of others and making them feel loved. We give so much of ourselves that sometimes we forget about our own needs — forget about loving ourselves. Even basic self-care becomes an after-thought. Days off and little treats are a thing of the past.

But what if you could change this by making little changes?

1. Recognise That You Do The Best You Can

Maybe work’s been so busy that you forgot to send out Christmas cards or didn’t ring a friend back.

Are you tweaking your calendar to fit in more tasks, more chores, more responsibility? Maybe thinking about all the things you could’ve done better is keeping you up late at night.

We often expect so much from ourselves — much more than we expect from others. Cut yourself some slack. You don’t have to give 100% every day.

Allow yourself the freedom to make mistakes, to do a little less today than yesterday, to take an hour off in the evening and just enjoy a book.

Love yourself for all that you do (and not for all you could’ve done).

2. Acknowledge You Too Have Needs

Instead of saying ‘I don’t have time to brush my hair’ or ‘I don’t have time to make myself lunch’, try: ‘brushing my hair is not a priority for me because it’s more important to...’

See how that sits with you. What would you think if someone you loved said that about one of their basic needs?

Sometimes we say we don’t have time but what we really mean is that it’s not a priority. But what would happen if you treated yourself with the same respect you show others?

Tend to your basic needs because these are the seeds that help you grow stronger.

3. Treat Yourself Every Day

Before you get up in the morning, think about one little thing you could do for yourself today. Give yourself the same amount of attention you would give someone else to brighten up their day.

It could be a small gesture, like watching a movie, going for a run, writing a poem — whatever it is that will make you happy.

Buy yourself that scarf or the new novel you want. You don’t have to wait for other people to treat you to something special when you can do it yourself!

Show yourself some love ❤️
