3 Easy Everyday Tasks to Improve Your Quality of Life

Three helpful tips to improve your day

Photo by Lina Trochez on Unsplash

Every day I do three easy tasks.

As a millennial with ADD, I am that perfect mixture of impulsive, impatient, and frozen. Executive dysfunction is my everyday function level.

6 months ago, I started an action plan.

Every day I would complete three tasks. Not for anyone else. For my own well-being and happiness.

Mediate

I meditate daily for around 5–20 minutes. I’ve been meditating on and off for over 6 years. But having that constant routine is something I look forward to. I have the pleasure of taking a few minutes of absolute mindfulness to recenter my focus and mood. Thanks, Peloton!

Read

My goal is to read for a least 5 minutes, but once you start it’s impossible to stop at five minutes. I used to read three books a week as a teenager. Then in college, I’d read nightly. I don’t know when I stopped. But six months ago I prioritized reading. It’s an effortless activity that immerses me in a new world or enriches my life through self-help tips.

Exercise

This is another activity where I set the bar low. Exercise for 10 minutes a day. Of course, when you’re working out, ten minutes fly by. But the ten-minute rule is for those lazy days. It all evens out in the end. Some days I spend walking for 10 minutes. Most days I do a 15–30 30-minute peloton ride, and twice a week I am at the aerial studio for 60–90 minutes. What matters most is movement and those lovely, lovely endorphins. I promise, if you’re in a funk, try a little exercise. Enjoy the improved mood, reduced stress, and feeling of accomplishment. Again, shout out to Peloton.

That’s it! Three little tasks to improve your life. Three little things to dedicate to yourself. A commitment to yourself that prioritizes your mindfulness, body, and importance. You deserve to meditate, read, and exercise.

I promise, that if you start today, you’ll experience a positive impact on your life in no time.
