3 Commandments of Self-Love
Tips for taking care of yourself first

- Learn to Say A Big ‘No'
How often do you say ‘no’s in your life?
Sometimes, most of the time, or never?
Well, I am looking for a ‘ most of the time’ answer, if the scenarios occurring are a hindrance to your normal growth and prosperity.
Loving yourself begins with saying a big no to all the things holding you back in life. Be that your toxic relationships, or a daunting 9-hour job. If you still have to deal with a group of disappointed managers, who sees you only through an angle of their profits, and never values any of your hard work, or achievements, it’s big-time you need to leave that place.
It is said that “ self-love is the best love”. This is a 100 % true statement. Most of the time, you will say yes, to the managers, to your life partner, kids, well-wishers, trying to please them with a ‘ yes’, but deep inside you bury yourself in so much pain, because you were desperate to say a ‘no’, but you couldn’t.
Hence, it’s advisable to consider your priorities and your identity, that next time someone tries to grab your happiness or peace by being nice to you, do not fall for it if that’s not what you want to.
2. Find Some ‘Me Time'
Do you realize how important it is to find some ‘Me time' in your life?
Irrespective of your age, gender, qualification, or marital status, you need to surely focus on having some time for yourself.
Suppose you are planning to get a peaceful retired life, where you can enjoy as much as you want, settling down all your financial liabilities, and fulfilling all those duties imposed on you. Yeah! you acted like a responsible human being and completed all of them in the best way possible.
As the bible says in 2 Timothy 4:7
You have fought the good fight You have finished the race You have kept the faith.
It could be true, but out of 100 times in this race, had there been at least 1 or 2 runs, just ran for you? Family is a priority, the job is a priority, but time flies, with a blink of an eye, you see grey hairs, and how much ever you neglect this fact, it’s for sure a fact.
Hence, take your time, some time in your life just to read the book you want to, enjoy a coffee in a beautiful cafe, go for a walk amidst the woods, take a short staycation.
You deserve these tiny luxuries in your life, as starting from kindergarten, you are piled up with a lot of responsibilities, of a student, a graduate, an employee, a boss, a wife, a father, a husband, and what not!
You play multiple roles of a leader, a teacher, a doctor, a banker, a baby- sitter, a contractor, all in the same life. So take that 5 mins in your life, right now, before you explode. If you think, you need it, go for it.
3. Stay Away From Negativity
Opposites attract as per the rule of science. But in real life, it’s always better to stay away from toxic people and their theories, the sooner you realize they are toxic, the better.
Your presence in this world has a beautiful, invisible cover wrapped around you, which is often called an ‘aura’. That is given to you so that you can shine for yourself. Anything that restricts the energy flow through this aura, can be considered as ‘negativity’ be that a thing or a person, you need to stay away from it.
It’s something beyond our understanding, sometimes, that our body should be seen as two different sectors. The physical body, where you have all the organs with the blood flowing through it to keep you alive, the other one is your soul, the one that illumines the aura.
Your thoughts, the people you deal with, the job you do, your friends and family, your passions, everything in your life should have a positive impact on you. Life surely will have its own ups and downs. You are less likely to meet wonderful people every day.
Once you figure out something is not going the way it should be, get out of it ASAP. Immediate action is required from your end. On the below note, let’s love ourselves slightly more, from today.
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”-Buddha
