#27 Write about a vacation you took. What made it memorable?
Vacations Are — Wait, What Do You Want It To Be?
There are a lot of other emotions in the spectrum

A friend of mine looked like he swapped places with a cooked lobster. Do you call that fun? He said, “You don’t understand; that was my goal. It was my good first burn of the season.” We could all think of (to quote Hermione Granger), “What an idiot.” He was in a meeting four days later with all of us. He already had a six-pack and now looks like a tan God.
Back in the real world, we’re with the Las Vegas crowd. In 2003 and 2004, we fell in love with Las Vegas. Business brought us here once a month. It was always magical. We drove up on Thursday night and drove back on Monday morning. The crowd stayed at a different hotel every time we went. It wasn’t long before we realized it felt like just one long vacation. We moved on from these wonderful mini-vacations in 2014.
After that experience, our objective was to find a large two-story home with a small front yard and a large backyard. We wanted at least one-quarter acre or more. Our goal was to make our backyard as restful and peaceful as a hotel property. We especially wanted our international friends to feel like they were on vacation. We also wanted at least two guest bedrooms.

Finally, we wanted a lot of room in the backyard. We have a sixty-five-foot-long patio on two levels. We wanted to entertain and when it’s just the two of us, we always feel like we’re on vacation. We finally (after ten years) found what we wanted exactly four months before my wife retired in 2014.
We’ve achieved our goal and then some. The view above is off the south end of the patio, looking over the pool to the fiery garden we made for grandkids. We achieved our goal and then some. We are so blessed to have a home like this.
Make no mistake; a great vacation can refresh your soul.
