$255 in 13 Hours of Driving with DoorDash: A Review and Advice

Door Dash is a great way to make some extra cash on the side. In just 13 hours of active driving, I was able to make $255. Not too bad! Here are my thoughts and some advice for anyone looking to start driving for Door Dash.

13 hr, 32 min. of active time at $255.60 = $19.19 per hour. Not bad!

But…

18 hr, 49 min. of dash time at $255.60 = $13.82 per hour in the car, this is including breaks and driving back to an area to wait for another order.

Thoughts?

My first thought is it’s not the greatest on time in the car and waiting on orders. With that being said, I feel that most of this time wasn’t in the peak time and that if I focused only on lunchtime and dinner time. It most definitely would have been better.

Monday and Tuesday

These two days are the days I’m off from my main job, so last week I drove both days at approximately 6.5 hours on Monday and 8 hours on Tuesday = 14.5 hours of the total time in the car with this time amounting to $179.90 for the two days.

Saturday night

This past Saturday I drove for a little over 4 hours and made $75.70. That wasn’t bad and I would do this again in the future of my dashing.

My Ultimate Review

Out of a 10-star review — I would give this side hustle a 7.

Reasons behind a 7 out of 10 stars

• The door dash needs to either make the tips be a standard amount or above. < this is huge and some people don’t give anything(This blows my mind!), so you’re relying only on door dash pay at about $2-$4 depending on the distance.
• I love people and enjoy serving others, so if you had patience and you were retired. This would be a great side hustle for someone like that.
• This is a great side hustle for a young person just starting adult life, I wish they had this back when I was a 19-year-old in college.
• This is great if you are in a pinch and need money or if you suddenly lose your job.
• I give this at least a 7 star because it was fun for me, it was something I didn’t mind doing and I will do it again. But, only during Peak Times.

Closing thoughts

I recommend door dash for anyone young that’s needing extra money or even a full-time gig would be good for a younger person or a retired person. I will be scheduling another time for this and it will only be during peak times.
