24 Ways To Boost Writing Success And Views in 2024
May these ideas help and encourage you to become better than ever in the new year
The new year is waiting for you. Success is available and you have the opportunity.
What will it take to find your way as a writer in 2024? Well, I have a few suggestions and maybe they can work for you.
Here is my list of 24 ways to help find more success on Medium and elsewhere in the brand new year.
- Set goals. This is a big one and it really does matter. I recommend that you set goals related to earnings, stories, views, followers, and anything else that can be measured. Write the goals down somewhere and take them seriously.
- Write consistently. If you prioritize one thing, it should be your writing. Be consistent about it. If your goal is one story per week, then stick to the schedule, come hell or high water.
- Engage with other writers. This is a writing community and everybody loves attention every once in a while. Give your time and energy to others and watch a lot of it come back. If it doesn’t, that’s fine too because people get busy in their lives.
- Acknowledge the effort. If somebody leaves a comment on your story, try to recognize it in some way so they know it is appreciated. If you don’t know what to say or the best words, just reply with a “thank you" or something like that.
- Be original. There are millions of things to write about. Plus, there’s a lot happening in your country or culture that the rest of the world might want to see and understand. Share your world and experiences.
- Be creative. People love variety and something different every once in a while, so show your creativity and mix things up when you can.
- Remain professional. Do your best to take your writing seriously and make it look serious with good grammar and syntax. Yes, writers and editors for big newspapers make mistakes too, but that’s on them. We can be great.
- Give a lot of effort. If you want to find success as a writer against all of the competition in the world, you are going to have to bring everything you’ve got every day of the year. Seriously, that’s very true in my experience.
- Stay positive. For me, there is no need to talk about how you don’t like this policy or this change. Of course you can and more power to those who speak up. But I like to stay positive and focus on the things I can do every single day to find success.
- Find things that excite you. There are writers who are creating content on some of your favorite subjects right now. It’s very true. For example, I like cakes and this morning I saw a story about a cake and that pulled me in to see more. Tomorrow I might see something about traveling in the Southwest. Next month I might see a story about a French crepe stop in Paris.
- Write about your passions. I’ve found that writing can be easy when the topic is something that you enjoy. I do like gardening and hummingbirds floating around. Most likely I will be writing something about that in the new year.
- Never give up. It’s important to stay strong and have a lot of determination, so make sure to be resilient when times are tough. You can find success in life.
- Make connections. It’s important to build relationships with other writers, in terms of trust and feedback. This takes time. Soon enough, you will start to trust each other and know what to expect from one another.
- Show some personality. It’s important to distinguish yourself from an AI chatpot as soon as humanly possible, so make that a big priority.
- Challenge yourself. Do something that you don’t do on a regular basis. If that means use your own photos and images, then definitely do that. If that means write something really fantastic, then go with that too.
- Be topical. There is a lot of stuff happening in the world these days, so there is plenty to include as a writer. If you want to avoid controversial matters, that is understandable.
- Share your culture. A lot of us take our daily lives for granted, but they could be interesting to others.
- Discuss your food and restaurants. I’m getting hungry right now and it would be nice to see what others are having for their next meal. I bet it is wonderful and delicious.
- Support each other. Give encouragement and kindness every chance you get to your fellow writers.
- Share useful tips. It’s funny how much I have learned recently. I bet I will learn a lot more next year too.
- Be friendly. A kind word and a sincere compliment can go a long way to making a day better than it would have been.
- Show you mean business. Give the best effort you can every chance you get, and be grateful for the opportunity.
- Have a positive attitude. If I forget, remind me that positivity goes a long way in life and often leads to success.
- Lastly, it’s time to power up. May you have the best year as a writer and make it better than you have ever had before. Let’s do this.
