Introducing: 21 Tips for Beginner Bloggers
Blogging takes time and patience
Today I’m gonna talk to you about tips for beginner bloggers I wish I had a year ago when starting this blog. I hope that you will find them helpful.
This post is for everyone who wants to start a blog, or who started a blog, and is lost in a rain of information and income reports from other bloggers.
1. Problem solver
Help people solve a problem, the most powerful way to make them come back to your blog. Be different from all the other blogs and bloggers, don’t lose yourself in the mass.
2. It’s not a “get rich quick” scheme
Don’ expect to start earning a lot of money straight away. Not every blogger is honest when writing about how they made thousands of dollars in the first few months of blogging. Chances are, it is not their first blog. A quality blog takes time and patience.
3. Make your blog memorable
Make it easier for your readers to remember your blog and make it easily accessible.
4. Don’t publish
If you are having some second thoughts about the post you’ve just written, don’t publish it. Let it sit a day or so in the drafts. If you are still not certain about it after some time, delete it. Always be 100% sure in every post you publish.
5. You will run out if inspiration
Be prepared to run out of inspiration at some point. But don’t panic and remember number 4 from this list of tips for beginner bloggers. It is better to take a break than to post whatever.
6. Network
Content is what brings people back to your blog, so in the beginning, you’ll need a group of blogging “friends”. Don’t be shy, share your blog with others from that niche.
7. Pay attention to headlines
When writing a post, think about clickable headlines, it will attract more readers. I use CoShedule’s headline analyzer, but there are others. Find the one that suits you best.
8. Headlines should be clear
Your reader should be able to know what the post is about from the headline.
9. Ask a family member or a friend
Sometimes you can share your blog links with family and friends and ask them to share them on their profiles. I don’t do that because no one knows I have a blog and I don’t blog in my native language. I know some people who do this, without shame or whatsoever.
10. Don’t dwell too much on feedback
Feedback is great, but don’t dwell too much on it. Some people will like your blog and your writing, some won’t, you can’t please everyone.
11. Experiment
Because, why not? Utilize your ideas, provoke people, stand out from the crowd. Sometimes it’s good to step out of your comfort zone.
12. Personal stories
Sharing content relevant to your niche but from your personal experience is great for connecting with readers.
13. Make them think
When you make your readers think, which is something that is not happening that often, they will remember you better.
14. Patience my fellow blogger, patience
Whatever you do, don’t be impatient. Build your content and audience and then apply for ad networks. I’ve just recently applied for Google AdSense, and was approved instantly ?.
15. Design is important
If your blog is not visually appealing, chances are people won’t stay long and will never come back. Choose a theme that aesthetically goes well with your overall blog content. I was using Astra for a while, some months ago I’ve switched to Blocksy because it has better customization and I’m delighted with it. Both are free, with premium upgrades.
16. Respond to comments
This is a must and the most important one amongst the tips for beginner bloggers. Always respond to comments, both negative and positive. It is the best way to build your community and to show people that you appreciate their time spent on your blog.
17. Reading other blogs
Reading other blogs is ok, but don’t spend too much time doing that. Focus on creating content for your own blog, grow your blog and yourself. You will attract readers thanks to the quality of your content.
18. Don’t be a show-off
When you make a success, don’t show off. However, it is ok to let others know that all the effort paid off.
19. Internal links
This is not good only for SEO, but it will also help your readers find out about your other posts which leads to more time spent on your blog.
20. Don’t forget to read
Read about blogging, and the technical sides of it read about all the things that interest you. That will only help you and your blog grow. But, don’t follow every piece of advice you come across, it’s not always good.
21. Fake it until you make it
OMG, how many times I’ve come across this sentence. It’s an absolute no, your readers can smell it. Also, don’t start a blog because it is trendy, do it because you want that.
