2020HLs: People who made the biggest impact on me this year.
People in the creative field don’t really know the amount of impact they create on the people who consume their content. Or maybe, they do but they won’t really know the after-effect.
I would love to thank all the numerous writers of the shows and movies that I watch, watched or will be watching in the coming days. Had it not been for their vision to create something, we won’t have had anything else to do other than scrolling through hours and hours of Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Most of the content that I consumed during this year has mostly been movies, a handful of TV shows, a lot of Youtube and quite a few podcasts.
My standout has been the works of a few YouTubers who’ve been in the field for some time and they reaped their benefits now with the quarantine and lockdowns. Like they were good even before all this happened but the traction they got over the course of the year was phenomenal.
I’d like to name a few of them who’ve grabbed my attention which in turn made me spend a considerable amount of time watching their videos. The likes of Nathaniel Drew, Ali Abdal, Matt D’Avella, Thomas Frank, Sorabh Pant, Tyler Mowery, Danish Sait, Soch by Mohak Mangal and a few others.
Do go through their profiles for some valuable stuff about productivity, tips to run a youtube channel, studying tips, interviews with people from different fields, screenwriting tips, comedy and informative videos about the current happenings in India respectively.
We don’t know the amount of time these YouTubers spend to create a video, edit and publish and for them to do it throughout the peak pandemic time is a commendable thing and of course, no one's doing it for charity but the commitment to produce good work week in and week out is a wonderful achievement and something to be learned from them apart from their content.
I should mention and be thankful to the innumerous doctors, healthcare professionals and police personnel all over the world, who’ve risked everything to be there for the people who needed them. They’ve shown real character, resilience and courage when the rest of the world was in a hurry burry panicky situation. They’ve had a greater impact on the proper functioning and order everywhere and deserve every ounce of our respect and goodwill.
In addition to the people, whatever happened this year is scarier than anything that happened before that we know of. This year has had the biggest impact on many of our lives teaching us to be hygienic, to collectively work against our perils and to slow down and retrospect about whatever we are doing to our planet and be mindful about everything we do in the future.
PS: This is a series of reflections for the year 2020. Do follow for the upcoming posts and do let me know your thoughts.
