Summary

The text provides two mini habits for a great evening routine that can help in having a productive following day.

Abstract

The text emphasizes the importance of having both a morning and evening routine to maintain productivity and balance. It suggests two mini habits for an effective evening routine: setting intentions to rest well and let go of the day's events, and visualizing the following day. The intentions help in focusing on personal values and spirit, and letting go of thoughts to achieve quality sleep. Visualization, on the other hand, primes the mind to behave in a way that brings the imagined day into reality. While visualization does not guarantee success, it helps in programming the mind to act in a certain way, such as delivering a business presentation with confidence. After setting intentions and visualizing, one can drift off to sleep and let their body, mind, and spirit rejuvenate for the following day.

Bullet points

  • Everyone should have both morning and evening routines for productivity and balance.
  • Set intentions to rest well and let go of the day's events to focus on personal values and achieve quality sleep.
  • Visualize the following day to prime the mind to behave in a certain way and program it to act accordingly.
  • After setting intentions and visualizing, one can drift off to sleep and let their body, mind, and spirit rejuvenate for the following day.

Everyone wants to have a great start to the day. Many of us keep a healthy morning routine to get a good head start, but have you considered getting an evening routine?

Routines are great for productivity, but they also help attain a well-balanced life because how you end your day affects the start of the following day. If you have a not-so-good evening, you might have a terrible start on the following day!

So I recommend you to keep routines, both morning and evening routines. Here are two mini habits for your evening routines that give you a good night's rest and a great start on the following day.

Set intentions to rest well & let go

While goals stated your destination, intentions showed you the way to it. Intentions are powerful because it directs our focus on our values, spirit, and what defines us at the moment.

Instead of going into the bed holding all the thoughts and "what-ifs", it is best if we could let go and get some quality sleep that rejuvenates our body, spirit, and mind.

Here is how you could set the intention: "I intended to be at peace and let go of events that happened in the day regardless of its consequences." "I intended to immerse in mindful rest." "I intended to move at a slower pace in the evening."

Visualise how tomorrow looks like

Seeing is believing. See how you will start your day with your mind's eyes primed your mind to behave in a way that brings your imagery day into realisation.

While laying on the bed waiting to fall asleep, it is best to visualise how you start your following day.

Perhaps you are going to have a business presentation tomorrow. Visualise yourself standing in front of the audience with great confidence and start delivering. Imagine seeing your audience nod and be convinced by your presentation.

There is no magic in visualisation. Imaging your presentation will not guarantee success as there are still many other factors that influence the outcome. However, visualisation practice will programme your mind into behaving in the way you imagine — you will deliver the presentation with confidence and sound more convincing.

Then, what's next?

You have set your intentions for a good night's sleep and let go of any unfinished tasks. Then you lay on the bed and imagine how tomorrow would be. Then what?

Then you could drift into the wonderland and have a fantastic dream. Let your body, mind, and spirit be rejuvenated before waking up and starting your day, striving to attain your goals.

Good night.
