If you are a tourist on a budget coming to Singapore, no worries! I got you covered. Read on and you will love this.

I was shocked at how transportation costs spiked tremendously after covid-19 in Singapore. Getting a taxi is just not for me anymore. The cost of a taxi fair has gone up a thousand percent. But trains and buses are still affordable for normal people like you and me.

If you are a tourist, especially in groups, taxis are way too costly.

2 Main transport for tourists on a budget coming to Singapore.

  1. Getting around By bus in Singapore

Singapore is a wonderful destination, and one of the best ways to explore it is by bus. As a frequent traveler, I have come to appreciate how convenient and affordable getting around Singapore can be. I’ve taken the time to familiarize myself with the city’s bus network due to the spike of taxis fair are no longer affordable for me.👇

This bus number 36 will bring you to many places and it's really fast too. I took this bus number 36 from CK TANG bus stop on Orchard Road when I went to Changi airport, so I knew. From Orchard Road, it went to Katong, Gelang, etc. Always ask the bus captain where you want to be dropped off. Singapore bus drivers are very friendly.

Singapore is so good at directional signs. Escalators and elevators are there for you to use when you have luggage to roll.

2. Getting around By Train/ MRT

In Singapore, train means MRT ( MASS RAPID TRANSPORT).

Traveling around Singapore by train or MRT is an experience like no other. As a traveler, I was excited to explore the city and take advantage of its convenient transportation system. With a wide network of trains, getting around Singapore on public transport is easy and enjoyable. The trains are comfortable, and safe and provide access to major tourist attractions throughout the city as well as from one end to another end.

At Changi Airport, you can go to the lowest floor in the building of Terminal 1. Direction is given. Always ask if you are unsure.

This train will bring you anywhere in Singapore even at the very end like Jurong east or Joo Koon and Tuas.

Each direction has a colour code, red, yellow, purple, green, etc. Train connections or interchanges usually at Dauby Ghaut, City hall, Raffles, Bishan, Jurong east, Boonlay and many more. You never get lost in Singapore.

In case, the last source you may take is the taxis if you do not want the hassles of rolling your luggage but prepare to get broke because taxis have gone up really high than it was before the pandemic.

This APP can help you on getting around Singapore.

This app I just discovered because I used to drive and take taxis whenever I need one before.

This app will tell you what bus to take to places you want to go or the nearest train stations. You will not get lost unless you are really so poor at reading directions.
