Thanks for taking the time to weigh in Judy. Respectfully responding to your points…

1. The Bible can be seen as a weapon in hundreds of cases when it speaks to sin. In every case folks of all stripes who hold a different opinion get angry and reject it. In the case of abortion, Scripture pits women’s freedoms against the unborn’s rights. Definitely a recipe for conflict.

2. Not sure the basis of your negative view of the ESV, however if you are referring to the revisions of the 1989 NIV that made it less male, it was the NIV that went woke and changed, not the other way around. The remainder of popular modern translations remain male gender dominated because that was what was clear from the original languages.

3. Many see the abortion issue in black and white terms. I have never said and in fact in some of my writings I have made the point that there needs to be reasonableness in the abortion debate. Specifically, when the life of the mother is in jeopardy, it should take precedence over the life of the unborn child. We live in an imperfect world and often are forced to choose the lesser of evils.

4. The “laws put in place” are, by definition intended to be balanced by facts and blind to bias (hence the image of the blinderded women with scales in her hands). The Supreme Court returned the decision to the states and by voting, back closer to the local views of their constituents. If everyone agreed with your strong and well articulated opinion (agreeing it’s a “death cult”) then states will drift toward pro-choice, if not, then the latter. But in either case there will always be states whose laws will favor pro-choice and funding for those who want those services to get there. On many many other matters, we are seeing mass migrations within this country as people align themselves to the places that tend to agree with their views (exodus of people from CA to FL for example).

5. As I have written in many places, I so wish God had not entered inside a women’s body in establishing the rights of the unborn. But, in my view He did. Like many, many things I see as wrong and unfair of God, that we glean from Scripture, I faithfully believe God needs to be above mankind as the Potter is above the clay (Rom 9:21). From that perspective, my opinion on matters means nothing.

Again, Judy, thank you for expressing your viewpoint, one that survey's say is in the majority in America.
