Getting in shape is simple. There’s a million ways to do it, keto diets, CrossFit, playing sports, lifting weights to name a few. They are all good things but ultimately it boils down calorie intake and calorie output, if you are in a calorie deficit and building muscle you will look better. How you choose to do it is up to you but here are my tips to make it easier.

  1. Alcohol is poison. Avoid it as much as possible.
  2. Peanut butter is not a high protein snack. Check the nutritional values, some are great, some are sugar filled rubbish.
  3. Eat slower to allow time for the satiety hormone (leptin) to release in your body. This tells your body when you’re full.
  4. Sugar makes you fat. There are good fats and bad fats, calories are energy and you need to eat them, sugar is non essential, we eat a lot of sugar. It’s more addictive than cocaine but you will feel so good once you cut down your sugar intake. It will be hard at first but once you get past the cravings you will feel great.
  5. Exercise is an anti-depressant. Try to exercise 4 times per week and watch your physical and mental health improve.
  6. Cardio burns calories. Weight training boosts metabolism. Do both.
  7. Muscle confusion is not a real thing. If your new to training don’t over complicate it. Find a program and stick to it until you get bored or learn new things.
  8. You can eat as many vegetables as you want. It’s almost impossible to over eat.
  9. Black coffee and sparkling water are great appetite suppressants.
  10. Brush your teeth after dinner and your craving will vanish.
  11. Cold showers will minimize stress.
  12. The quality of your food will affect how you look and how you feel.
  13. Eat the frog first. If you struggle to get your workout done, do them first thing in the morning.
  14. Eggs are a super food. Eat them often. (Eat only egg whites if you are worried about cholesterol intake, it’s best to only consume 4 or 5 eggs yolks per week).
  15. You can train with lots of equipment or none.
  16. Minimize liquid calories. Soda, oils, sugary drinks, cold coffees filled with sugar. These are the easiest calories to over consume.
  17. Lack of sleep will increase your hunger hormones. It will also slow down your recovery.
  18. It’s better to lose weight sustainably, don’t be too strict on your diet or you will cheat to hard. Eat clean 80% of the time and allow yourself some of the things you like.
  19. Track you calories, you can use a free app like myfitnesspal to track your calories. If you can get a smart watch that will let you know how many your burning.
