18 Useful Tips on How To Focus On Your Business and Succeed Massively

It is no secret that the internet has made it easier than ever for people to access information, but with this comes the unfortunate consequence of spending hours on end watching cat videos, letting your inbox pile up, and neglecting your business. As a business owner or entrepreneur, you are never 100% focused on your main goal. Unless you want to be one of those “famous” internet failures who falls out of the public eye every time they make an announcement about their newest project or product release date.
In this blog, I am going to introduce you to a new habit that will totally change the way you view your business and how you can use your time wisely. You have probably heard of it — there have been countless blogs written on the subject — but this is my take on it. I will not list the usual tips about turning off your notifications, having a clear schedule, and so on…
Instead, I am going to give you practical tips that will help you become more focused on your business. My goal is to help you increase your productivity and find time to follow your dream while minimizing or even eliminating distractions.
My Experience With Becoming More Focused
You wouldn’t believe how hard it can be to stay focused when you are in full-time business mode. It’s even hard when you are working for yourself, while still having a day job and a personal life (which I’m completely guilty of!).
I know what it’s like
When I first started out, I was so obsessed with my business, that I actually didn’t have much time to do anything else. In fact, I was running around from one meeting to another all the time! But after a while, my focus started to get diminished. In order to get out of this state of mind, I needed a new habit that would help me stay focused on my business at all times. The following are some great tips I learned on how to stay focused.
Understand your business needs. If you are overwhelmed with the amount of things you need to do, make a list of what is really important. This will help you prioritize your tasks better and work more efficiently. Cultivate your creativity. If you spend too much time working on the same tasks, you risk neglecting other important things, like the other side hobbies and other activities. It’s important to spend some time on creative projects as well, even if they are not related to your business.
Use your intuition. One of my favorite tips for staying focused is always to use my intuition when I start to get distracted. I know that my mind is in another place when I start to get into that distraction cycle, but then I can put in an effort not to go there again. It usually works!
Set yourself up for success.
1. Break your routine.
When you are in a routine, it is very easy to stay focused. All you need to do is repeat your same tasks over and over again until they become second nature. But if you change up your tasks/activities, it is easy to get distracted by other things. So my very first tip when trying to stay focused is to completely change up your routine right before you start working on it. Set yourself up for success with something challenging that you know will be hard for you, but that will help you decide that the ultimate goal of staying focused is worth the effort!
2. Have small goals/tasks with rewards in mind.
Once again, I have learned this from experience. I know it’s easy to lose track of your goals when you don’t have a specific goal in mind. But you seriously need a reward for yourself when you finish a task. Make sure that this reward is something that will make you want to stay focused long enough to get there!
3. Plan your day/night.
I’m sure that most of us go into our work mode without planning the day or night ahead of time, and then we get distracted by everything else, whether it be other work tasks or just time spent watching cat videos on the internet. Try going into your work mode without a plan. Instead, go into it with a goal of what you want to accomplish. Make sure that you don’t go overtime and spend too much time on things that are unnecessary.
4. Eliminate or minimize distractions.
I am sure that most of us have been guilty of watching too many cat videos on the internet, but there are other things out there that can really make you lose your focus, whether it be social media notifications or even having too much idle time in front of the computer screen. Eliminate all distractions you have!
5. Take regular breaks.
Most people are guilty of taking too long breaks, but they are so important for your mind to rest and allow you to move on to the next task with more energy. You can take regular breaks or meditate between tasks if you want to be even more productive! It’s important to have regular steps within your workflow that will push you forward without being stressed about getting things done in a specific time frame.
6. Use tools that help you stay focused.
There are many tools out there that will help you stay focused, which is why it is great to use at least one of these on a daily basis. I personally recommend a Builderall Funnel Club for your marketing needs. They really work wonders when it comes to digital marketing optimization! Having your tools organized will help you stay focused.
7. Take a break every hour.
Even if you have a short amount of tasks, take regular breaks so that you can avoid getting too tired and unfocused. Take 5 minutes to do something completely unrelated (like look up your favorite cat video!) and if you notice that you’re getting too distracted, take the break.
8. Take regular breaks.
I already mentioned this one before, but it is so important! You need to make sure to take regular breaks every hour (even if it’s for only 5 minutes) to allow yourself to relax and not get too tired! If you have a lot of tasks that you have to complete, then try breaking them into smaller chunks so that you can actually be productive.
9. Use other apps/tools other than your computer or phone/laptop.
The biggest problem is that we spend too much time with our faces glued to the computer screen. Whether you need to do your business work, take care of personal errands, or even if you are working on other projects for your business, it’s important that you spend some time away from the computer screen! This will prevent you from getting too distracted and completely losing track of what you’re doing. Try working on paper instead (for example, I like to write down my tasks by hand), or use an app like Mind Journal (it’s great!).
10. Have a productive/fun environment.
You can’t be productive if you are in a place that doesn’t make you happy, therefore it’s important to have an environment that motivates you when it comes to working. You can employ various virtual desktop apps for this task, which is great when you are on the go! Make sure that when it comes to your home office, you have a relaxed space in which you can work peacefully. And make sure to reward yourself every time you finish your tasks with something nice!
11. Reward yourself after each task.
It’s very easy to lose motivation if there is nothing in the end for the hard work that was put into our business. Make sure that you have something to look forward to at the end of each task, whether it be a delicious dinner or a relaxing tea session with your friends. And it’s just as important to reward yourself even if you didn’t finish all of the tasks that you had on your list for the day. It doesn’t matter how few tasks are completed, because you are still moving forward!
12. Find mentors.
It’s so much easier to stay focused when you have someone who has been where you are in their journey and can tell you how to stay focused when your world feels like it is falling apart around you. You can be mentored by an individual or by a group of people, but either way, you will learn so much about the proper way for you to work when in their presence! Mentors will also help keep your struggle with staying focused at bay because they can tell what type of strategies to use for yourself.
13. Do something physical daily.
This is actually something that I learned about myself when I was in college. I went to college at the time when my business started to grow but still had limited time on my hands. My way of staying focused was by doing push-ups, sit-ups, squats, etc. on a daily basis before taking care of everything else. This might not be the best option for you because some people are very active physically during work hours, but it’s something that worked out great for me!
14. Take five minutes of your day to do nothing.
This might really just bring up a lot of stress, but this is a very important step that will allow you to release all of that built-up tension and mind energy that builds up throughout the day. It’s important to have at least one full hour of time within your workday where you can do absolutely nothing! After this hour of nothing, it’s time to get back on the horse by getting back into your work mode.
15. Reward yourself after a long day at work.
The most important thing is to take time after each day of work to relax. This can be as simple as taking a walk with your dog or finding the nearest coffee shop with the best latte/wholesome blend. You can also try doing something completely unrelated to your business during this time, but it’s still wise to put off getting back into work mode until at least the next morning!
16. Keep a journal of your thoughts every day.
I know that this might sound stupid, but it really works! I think that everyone should keep a journal on paper (or on their computer) every day where they write down things like “how I was feeling”, “what I ate for breakfast”, etc. It’s really important to have these brief moments of self-reflection so that you can truly determine how you are feeling and be able to handle things accordingly. It’s also really helpful if you have an accountability partner so that they can see your physical activity in your journal and become extra motivated to contribute towards their own success.
17. Have your partner hold you accountable.
This might seem like a big thing, but it’s extremely important to have someone who knows exactly what you need to be focused on. If you aren’t having any change in motivation and keep thinking “I can do it,” then it’s time for you to open up your eyes and listen to your accountability partner rather than yourself! If they are holding you accountable, they are likely ready to help push onward with the tasks that need to be completed.
18. Leave the work at work during breaks.
Regardless of whether or not you are working on the usual nine-to-five job, it’s very important to take time away from work so that you can reset your mind. There has been quite a variety of research that shows that your brain needs rest in order to function properly, because if there is too much stress for too long of a period of time, then you will burn out! This could be in the form of physical activities, social activities with friends/family, or even completely unrelated tasks that will take your mind away from your business. ANYTHING is better than doing nothing at all!

I hope that these tips will help you stay focused on what really matters in your business! Finally, remember that this is something that needs to happen naturally. Don’t force yourself to stay focused. After all, if you’re not inspired enough to do it, then how will you get anything done? If you get distracted, don’t beat yourself up about it. Just get back up and start over again. Again and again. Until the desired goal is achieved!

I’m not saying that these are definite solutions for staying focused, but these are things that I’ve noticed work for me! I believe that the best way to stay focused is by using something called “tactical management” which is described in the book “The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People.”
This concept is so easy to apply! It’s basically about setting clear goals and knowing how to get there. Everyone has different things that motivate them at certain points in their life, but what matters most is their mindset when it comes to staying focused during this stressful time. Even if you’re not doing anything different at all, you can still find success within your business if you have the right mindset.
