17 year old child mistaken for lesbian partner with her 38 year old mother
Interesting story my 17 year old child was asked by a guy at DND if me, her mother and her were a lesbian couple. This came as a shock to both her and me, as I’m her mother and she is my child, with a 17 year gap between ages.
I truly don’t understand the reason for such a question, with such an age difference and the only affection is what you would give a teenage child of that age, which BTW is honestly not much physically other than occasional hugs. I found the thought appalling and honestly completely disgusting to say the least. Now I love my child to the ends of the universe but incest is on a whole other level of “fuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Noooooooooo”.
The thing is like typically I give her a hug at home but she is mature for her age and well it just doesn’t seem right to embarrass my child in public. However, perhaps the possibility of my youngest 12 year old child sitting between us during the DND game may have caused this absurd question, but that’s just security and being a protective mom with maybe 20+ year old men at the DND table.
I feel that there is a strange internal question about whether or not the guy thought I was young enough to be her partner or my child was close to my age. But it is very confusing to say the least, and any perspective this just feels wrong in more ways than one. I truly don’t know how to convey that I’m her mother, not her partner in public to avoid this confusion by anyone else. Perhaps there is no answer but something I will have to address from time to time in strange bazaar situations.
Anyways, the guy did apologize, but I still wonder the reasoning. I also begin to wonder what others would think when we are walking around together as a family. I wonder, any other parents have similar problems?
