17 Advice I Would Tell My Self In My 20's

#1. Be grateful. Where your focus goes is where your energy goes. You’ll have heartbreaks and feel lost but remember it’s through the darkness that we get to appreciate the light truly. Focus on what you have instead of what’s missing. And indulge in the verse of God, in The Quran that says, “If you are grateful, I will give you more.”

#2. Let it go. Forgive because you deserve peace. Grudges are garbage, and renting a space in your heart is worthless. Forgive because you get to live a more meaningful life when you aren’t dragging the past to your future.

#3. Don’t be a Gravy. I know what you are thinking: Is not the one you pour in your mash potatoes, you silly goose. I learned this from my amazing brother Genius Turner. To sum it all up for you: never chase a guy no matter how much you love him. Let him chase you and put a ring on it. I know you’re too sensitive and too kind, but change the story and toughen up for this scenario.

#4. Do unforgettable random acts of kindness to those who can do nothing for you. Do it to honor God, do it because you’ll reap double the happiness. Do it because that person you are helping — is a reflection of you. One day, you are going to need upliftment and what you send forth comes back for you.

#5 Do the hard things in life. The ones that push to your limit — I know you like to enjoy your time but trust me, you’ll thank me someday. It’s through the challenges we go through that we grow stronger mentally. And mental toughness is one of the best skills you could ever gift yourself with.

#6 Be patient with your parents. I get it; some parents are a real test. They’ll piss the crap out of you. They’ll say hurtful things, but don’t blame the entire tree on that one rotten fruit experience, for God’s sake.

She carried you for nine long months and almost died giving birth to you. Contemplate that struggle closer and hold on to your heart before you say anything you’ll later regret. Lower your wings of mercy and grace.

#7 Read more books on spirituality, mindset, growth, building good habits, life skills, writing, copywriting, sales, entrepreneurship, creative ideas, health discoveries, marketing, and influencing. Diversify your brain’s encyclopedia. The more you learn, the bigger your mind grows neural connection — leading you to level up your life.

#8 “You are what you eat” will be said to you. You are laughing, I bet. And probably saying, “well is not like I am eating poison.
