12,000 Children Have Been Killed in Gaza

How can we keep looking the other way ‘just because it’s Israel?’

I have shamelessly avoided writing about the slaughter the government of Israel calls a “war” against Hamas in Gaza. I am writing now, not because I pretend to understand this decades-long conflict. I know enough to accept that most Palestinians want Israel to be wiped off the Earth — hate blinds them.

I wrote a few articles back at the beginning of the Israeli assaults, and the venom and hate from pro-Israeli people was immediate and ugly. Given all of the emotions I feel about Russia’s war of genocide against Ukraine, I chose not to pursue further writing about the slaughter in Gaza. I wasn’t that emotionally engaged with this region and also felt that, given my lack of knowledge, it just wasn’t right of me to write stuff to be part of the current anti-Israeli uproar.

What I did know, however, was that sooner or later, Benjamin Netanyahu would bite Joe Biden’s hand. This has always been the case. The U.S. offers nearly limitless support, and when it asks Israelis to refrain from certain actions so as not to aggravate tensions further, Israel happily flips the U.S. the bird. That is what is happening now. Bibi is pretty much telling Biden to f*** off and that he is going to do what he wants. Bibi is a smart Trump. Bibi is, in many ways, Trump only Trump has a mental illness.

The Biden administration and U.S. politicians have finally woken up to the rest of the world realized months ago — Israel needs to stop because it’s going too far.

Pro-Israeli readers will predictably hate this article and me because I dare question the motives of Israel. To be fair, I am not questioning the motives of Israel. I understand that the country is surrounded by a lot of people who absolutely hate them and would love for nothing more but their destruction. I get this fact, and it’s horrible.

I am questioning a fact, though, that no amount of desire for vengeance or warrior-like passion for protecting one’s homeland can justify: 12,600 children who resided in Gaza are dead today because of Israeli bombing. 32,000 have been injured, and 25,000 have lost one or both parents.

Now what? The lives of nearly 100,000 children have in five months been destroyed. What’s up, Bibi? What’s your plan now? To kill them all?
