11 Vital Relationship Tips for Women: How to Find Love

It’s hard being a woman. Women have to deal with so many things that men don’t even think about, and when it comes to relationships, it can be downright daunting.

Figuring out how to find love is tough enough, but what do you do when you’ve finally found it?

And how do you get back together with an ex who broke your heart?

Well, don’t worry — I’m here to help. Here are eleven essential tips for women in relationships. Follow them and you’re sure to have a happy and healthy love life.

Treat Him Right, and You’ll Have a Happy Relationship

When it comes to relationships, you have to keep the golden rule in mind: Treat others as you’d like to be treated yourself.

If you want your boyfriend to respect you and treat you well, then you need to take care of him too. Show that you appreciate him, and he’ll be much more likely to hold up his end of the relationship.

Take the time to make sure that you aren’t taking your man for granted. It’s easy to do when everything seems perfect, but before long you could find yourself single again.

And never underestimate the importance of compliments. If your guy does something nice for you, let him know that you appreciate it. Men are insecure creatures at heart and they need to be reassured just as much as we do.

It’s a big world out there. But a relationship doesn’t have to take up all of your time. You can spend quality time with your boyfriend or go out into the town without ditching your buddies.

And don’t be afraid to go on a girl’s night out either. Everyone needs time off from their significant other now and again. So, if you need some time to yourself, take it. Your relationship will survive even if you spend a night hanging out with the girls.

Of course, there are certain things that won’t fly in a healthy relationship. Not only is physical and emotional cheating a no-no, but you shouldn’t be afraid to stand up for yourself if your man tries it.

Just because he’s bigger doesn’t mean that he should be allowed to walk all over you. And if he does mess with you, make sure that you’re not shy about letting him know that you won’t stand for it.

Remember, guys are visual creatures. If you just let yourself go when you get into a relationship, your boyfriend will start to lose interest in no time flat.

You don’t have to wear makeup or dress up every day. But it would be a good idea to at least take some time to look your best when you’re in a relationship. This way, you’ll maintain his interest and remind yourself just how attractive he finds you.

Don’t Get Carried Away

You can’t deny the fact that relationships are an integral part of life — but when it comes down to it, they aren’t really all that important.

Yes, they add a little excitement to life and make you feel special — but if you’re not careful, you could find yourself swept up in the drama of it all and lose sight of reality.

Just because he tells you that he loves you doesn’t mean that’s true. And even if it is, what does that really mean for your future?

It’s easy to get carried away when you’re in love, but eventually the honeymoon period will be over. When that happens, are you ready to take it to the next level with him?

Especially if you haven’t known each other for very long, there’s a good chance that he might not be the one. Think about all of your options beforehand and make sure that you’ve got a backup plan in case things don’t work out.

You’re going to have a hard enough time adjusting to life with a boyfriend when the time comes. But if he ends up being abusive or violent, it’ll be even harder.

Remember, you’re never obligated to stay in a relationship just because it’s bad. If he doesn’t treat you right and is constantly making you miserable, don’t let him hold you back.

You’ll be surprised by how much happier your life will be when you break it off with the wrong guy — and if all else fails, just remember that there are plenty of other fish in the sea.

Be Open to Love

Don’t ever close yourself off from love. You may think someone has the potential to make a great partner for you and they go out of their way to show it, but if you’re not interested, that’s not fair.

It’s always better to give someone a chance than to risk missing out on your ideal partner.

If you act like you’re not open to love, then people won’t approach you and your standards will be too high. It’ll become next to impossible for you to find someone right for you.

So don’t close yourself off to love. You never know what could happen or who it might be.

A Healthy Relationship

Getting into a healthy relationship doesn’t have to be all that difficult. And the first step is knowing what you should look for.

First and foremost, you need someone who respects you as an individual. You shouldn’t feel threatened by your boyfriend and he shouldn’t put you down either. You should feel like an equal — and that’s the best way for a healthy relationship to start.

Once you’re past that point, your next priority is compatibility.

You don’t necessarily need to have the same interests as him. But you should be able to make it work if you do.

If you’re both genuinely happy in each other’s company, you’ll find that your relationship will grow even further. After all, everyone likes being around someone who makes them feel good. And if he can make you laugh on a regular basis, there’s no telling how far the two of you could go.

But don’t let it go to your head…

You shouldn’t feel like you have to change for your boyfriend.

If he really cares about you, he should love you for who you are — not what you can do for him. And even if it seems that way at first, remember that people tend to treat the ones they love the best. So if he’s a good guy, he’ll take care of you and be there for you when you need him most.

Surround Yourself with Love

Another key factor here is your social circle. People who surround themselves with love are much more likely to find it.

You should be surrounding yourself with people who lift you up, not bring you down. If there’s someone in your life who makes you feel bad, cut them out — they’re not worth your time.

The best way to attract the right partner is to surround yourself with people who love and appreciate you.

Keep Your Feet on the Ground

You really don’t want to be one of those women who’s so far up in the clouds that she can’t even remember what real-life smells like.

And you definitely don’t want to be the kind of woman who only talks in romantic clichés and quotes ’80s movie lines at random intervals.

And while it’s great to want a man who will sweep you off your feet, you should remember to keep things in perspective. Be practical — and if he doesn’t offer the kind of support that you want or need, make it clear to him.

Although it might sound fun at first, don’t get too wrapped up in your new relationship that you forget about everything else in your life.

If you’re not careful, you can develop an unhealthy obsession with your boyfriend — and while some women are able to successfully maintain a healthy balance between their career goals and their romantic relationships, don’t fool yourself into thinking that you’re one of them.

Remember, this isn’t just about him — it’s about you too. Don’t be afraid to put your foot down if he tries to steamroll over you or tell you what to do. You need to retain some semblance of independence or the relationship will quickly dissolve.

Stop Comparing Your Relationship to Others’

It’s all too easy in today’s society to compare your relationship with others’.

You might see a really attractive guy on TV and think, “He looks like he’d be a great boyfriend,” or you’ll meet someone new at work who seems nice and think, “She might be a good match for me.”

That’s not the right way to approach dating.

The moment you start thinking of others as ‘rivals’, you stop seeing them as people and start seeing them as competition. You’ll get so caught up in trying to one-up your rival that you won’t have any time to actually enjoy yourself.

So don’t compare your relationship with others’ — everyone’s different, and you might be missing out on someone great who’d make a perfect match for you if you’re too busy envying another person’s relationship.

Forgive Your Exes

Don’t let past relationships ruin your chances of finding the right one. Whether it’s a failed relationship, an abusive one or one that simply didn’t work out, you have to learn from those experiences and move on.

If you hold onto the negative feelings of past partners, then your future relationships will be tainted by them as well. So stop thinking about all the things they did wrong and try focusing on the good things instead.

When You Get Mad, Don’t Burst Their Ears with Endless Rants About Their Flaws

You might be tempted to complain when you’re upset, but that’s just not a good idea. If you won’t take my advice on the previous point, then at least follow this piece of advice. If you tell your man about all the things that are wrong with him, he might get defensive. This could lead to disagreements and arguments. I’d say it even has a high chance of causing problems in your relationship.

Make Sure Your Social Media Status Is ‘Single’ When You’re on the Market

Let’s face it, all men are looking for women who will make them look better. And what’s the best way to do that? By putting up a picture of yourself and adding a caption like ‘Single AF’ or ‘I’m so happy being single’.

If you’re going to be out on the dating scene, sure, show your followers that you’re having fun. But don’t post anything that might make your soon-to-be ex think you’re already seeing someone else.

Don’t Be Afraid to Cut off Contact with Your Ex

Yes, yes, I know it’s hard. The last time you saw them was the most wonderful night of your life — filled with laughter and romantic candlelight.

But trust me, it’s better to make a clean break than to try and be friends with an ex after your relationship falls apart. If they’re truly the love of your life then you won’t run into them at the supermarket or bump into them on Facebook (because you deactivated that).

The Final Verdict

Getting your first boyfriend is an exciting time in life — but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. So many girls get attached to the wrong guys and end up making bad decisions that they regret for years to come.

But if you’re smart about it, your first boyfriend can be great for you. He’ll teach you so many new things and even introduce you to friends that could last a lifetime.

Just remember not to get too carried away, or else his love might start feeling more like a burden than anything else — but if you want to be happy, don’t let that stop you. You’ll thank yourself later.

One day, when it’s all said and done, you’ll look back at the choices that you made and wonder why things had to turn out the way they did.

But if there’s one person in life who really cares about you, it’s you. So no matter what happens in your future, just remember that you’re the one who has to live with your decisions — and if they were wrong, then next time you’ll do better.

But don’t blame yourself when things go wrong.

Remember, in the end nobody is at fault but yourself. So if you have to apologize — do it. But don’t focus on the negatives, because all of your firsts are going to be great. You just need an open mind and a positive attitude about everything that’s happening in life.
