Today is the day and I want to share 11 most important life lessons that we all can learn from Buddha. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to agree and follow these life lessons from Buddha, but they are useful for your life. Imagine if everyone lived like Buddha today. The world would be in peaceful harmony with each other.
The 11 Life Lessons You Can Learn From Buddha
1. Peace Starts From Within First
There are so many people who long for peace but they don’t know peace is within them. If your inner world is chaotic, your outer world becomes chaotic. Your inner world reflects on the outer world. Peace doesn’t start around you. It starts from within you. Peace means you embrace all parts of you, including your flaws. You’re content with who you are.
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” ॐ
2. Let Love Guide You
You can either choose to let fear guide you or let love guide you. Fear will guide you on the wrong path, love will guide you on the right path. Love can guide you to freedom, peace, and happiness. Fear guides you to mental enslavement, war, and sadness. Fear leads you to destruction. Love leads you to success.
“Radiate boundless love towards the entire world.” ॐ
3. Choose Your Thoughts Wisely
Words have great power to change the world, including our world. Notice how you’re talking in your thoughts. Is it positive or negative thoughts? Thoughts are powerful and can affect how you live your life. Your thoughts manifest your reality. Whatever the mind thinks, it becomes real. You can use your thoughts to create a great life or a bad life. The choice is yours. Good or bad thoughts are both right and you choose to think positive or negative. Thoughts become things. Choose your thoughts wisely.
All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. ॐ
4. Live In The Present Moment
Don’t live in the past, it’s already said and done. Don’t live in the future, it hasn’t happened yet. It doesn’t exist yet. Live in the divine present moment, because that’s all you ever have. That’s where you find peace and love. Cherish every moment you have because life is too short. Cherish your loved ones while they are still alive. Everything you have in the present moment will perish one day, so appreciate every moment you have.
“The past is already gone, the future is not yet here. There’s only one moment for you to live.” ॐ
5. Health Is Important
Health is wealth. You do good to your mind, soul, and body by being healthy. Consuming vegetables and fruits is the greatest gift for your body. Vegetables and fruits come from Mother Earth and it’s a gift to us from Mother Earth. There is so much life-force energy in uncooked vegetables and fruits.
Eat healthy, think healthy, feel healthy. - Suzan Dalia
“To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” ॐ
6. You’re a Soul Living In a Body
Your body is your temple. You’re soul in a sacred vessel. You’ve been gifted this body so take good care of the body like it’s your own child. You’re a soul, you’re a consciousness that lives in a body. You’ve entered the body from the beginning and will depart from the body when it’s your time to descend from the world. You are the soul and your body is a car that needs to function well. It’s your job to take care of your body like a car that should be prevented from getting rusty.
“You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.” ॐ
7. Life Is Short — Spend It Wisely
The problem with people is they think they are immortal on this planet. They waste their life being a jerk to people and work on a job they hate instead of following the job of their dream. Time flies and it flies really fast before your eyes. Life is precious and short. You got a gift to live on this planet, so appreciate the time you have in this life while you still can. Tomorrow’s never promised. You never know what’s going to happen. Live life as if it’s your last day without fear but being good and kind.
“The trouble is, you think you have time.” ॐ
8. Anger Kills Your Soul
Being angry all the time can age you badly. Holding unto anger makes you feel mentally insane. You hurt no one, but yourself. You torture your soul by punishing yourself all the time and blaming yourself for not handling a situation better. It makes you feel tired all the time. You have no energy to do anything because you’re always angry. Someone hurt you a long time ago and it still makes you angry to this day instead of moving on. You’re not balanced if you’re always angry. Being angry all the time means you’re not in harmony with nature.
“Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” ॐ
9. Live In Blissful Gratitude
Start with gratitude, if your dreams are not accomplished yet. Be grateful for everything you have. It doesn’t matter what it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small. Be grateful you started the day with a cup of coffee. Be grateful you woke up to another day because tomorrow is not always promised. Be grateful that you have great health. Look around you. Life becomes blissful heaven when you see everything as a blessing.
“You have no cause for anything but gratitude and joy.” ॐ
10. Forgive People and Yourself
You can’t move on if you don’t forgive bad people for doing you wrong. You can’t punish yourself forever because you regretted something in the past. The past is in the past. It’s done and there is nothing you can do. The only thing you can do is accept what has happened. Forgiving someone is the first step to move on with your life. It’s hard at first, but forgiving someone will become easier. Forgiving doesn’t mean their bad behavior was OK. It means you’re willing to move on from something that shouldn’t control you and hurt you anymore. It’s the same with forgiving yourself. It means you choose to look forward instead of looking back. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Don’t blame and punish yourself. Forgive yourself and accept what has happened.
“To understand everything is to forgive everything.” ॐ
Peace be with you.
