11 Lessons Since I Started My Money Twitter Journey

Not when I haven’t had much success with it anyway. When I have 30K followers and racking in $5,000/monthly, I’ll maybe “create a course” with all the secrets.
What in the cat’s fur is a “money Twitter”?
Money Twitter, my friend, is a special place on Twitter where people talk about making money. We are a bunch of hustlers making money from tweeting about making money.
You might see a problem arising. Before you slam Money Twitter, I want you to know there’s nothing wrong with this community.
It’s the same as YouTubers talking about how much money them makes from posting videos.
And Medium writers share how they make $X XX from writing on Medium.

1. Don’t Spam Affiliate Links
This goes without saying. Spamming links is the easiest way to get banned or suspended.
I didn’t do it but I’ve seen many new Tweeters making this mistake.
Always remember Gary Vee’s jab, jab, jab, hook. Which basically means to add more value first before asking for a sale.
2. Follow Bigger Creators
Bigger creators have made it because they’ve cracked the code. Whether they publicly tell what that is or they keep the secret to themselves, you can learn a lot by following them.
And I don’t mean to mindlessly consume their content.
You should follow to learn.
Learn how they tweet, promote and engage with their audience. Then you can replicate their process in your own tweets.
3. Create Threads
Threads on Twitter are like the old curated Medium articles. It’s a way to get discovered and gain massive new followings.
There’s so much you can say in a single tweet of 240 characters. With threads, you are able to deliver more value to Money Twitter.
If you want to grow your account fast, write one thread a day for 30 days.

4. Join an Growth Community
I’m someone who believes in the power of community.
And I’m not talking about groups where people trade likes and comments.
What I mean by community is an actual group of people helping one another achieve a common goal.
I’ve joined a couple of communities on Twitter that focuses on growth. And I believe that’s why it has helped me get to 500 followers in less than 6 months.
Not only that but I’ve met and learnt from a lot of amazing creators.

5. Implement ALL Strategy Before Buying Another Course
Before you call a course you bought on Twitter a scam, ask yourself if you have really implemented all the strategies.
Like really, really implemented them.
I’ve seen many people buying one course after the other simply because they want to know the “cheat code” to success. There isn’t one.
Or maybe there is and it’s called, “putting in the work”.
6. Using DMs To Build Genuine Connections
Tweets are good and threads are great.
But the real, genuine networking happens in the DMs.
DM every single person who follows you. Ask them what they like, why they choose to follow you or what their why is.
Build genuine connections with your audience. They’ll engage with your content more.
7. Twitter Is A Starting Ground
Like many social media platforms, you don’t own your audience. You need to think about how you can capture your audience and not depend on one platform.
One good way is to build an email list. You don’t have to do it right now but think about it. The sooner you start, the better.
8. People Love Social Proof
Use proofs in your tweets. It provides credibility and builds trust. Especially if you’re starting out on Money Twitter, people want to know why they should follow you.
You can say you’re good at XYZ but can you actually prove it?
9. Your Content Ideas Don’t Have To Be Original
But you need to add your own little spice. Don’t outright copy and paste another person’s tweet. Use them as inspiration.
Tweet Hunter is an AI tool that allows you to find viral tweets in your niche and use them for inspiration. You can even use it to craft an AI-generated tweet. You probably need tweak it a little but it helps remove writer’s block.
10. Write Shorter Sentences
You can have 240 characters in a tweet but that doesn’t mean it has to be presented in one paragraph.

That’s right. Example #2 is more readable and easier to understand.
11. Videos Don’t Work (For Me)
There’s a small portion of video creators on Twitter but personally, I never watch them. It’s not because I don’t like their content. It’s just… I like Twitter because I love words.
If I wanted to watch videos, I would go to Tik Tok or YouTube. That’s just me though. I do see some people doing well on Twitter with video content.
