100 Haiku & Tanka Project
the practice of writing Haiku poetry every day

Some people say that writing 100 posts is a good exercise for writing, especially when you start writing. I agree with that, and I also practised it when I started blogging in Japanese and English. It worked for me, at least it helps you to be able to write faster and writing becomes your routine.
Now I have a new project, writing 100 Haiku poems. I am Japanese, so I am supposed to be familiar with Haiku poetry. I learned how to enjoy Haiku art at school, but ashamedly I had never tried to write Haiku poetry myself before I began my Haiku project.
I was surprised that English writers love Haiku poetry. I didn’t realise that it is so popular amongst poets. I found that it is an exciting process to pour your passion and twist of emotions into word-minimised poems.
I am a beginner of Haiku poetry and I don’t know whether I am good at it. Still, I want to try and write 100 Haiku poems. In Japanese people say, ‘Even if you are a bad shooter, you can hit the target when you try hundreds of times.’ I may have created a good one after I have finished writing 100 Haiku poems.
