10 Ways to Achieve Health and Wellness in 2022

Health and wellness aren’t just about the size of your waistline, your cholesterol levels, or your BMI (Body Mass Index). Instead, health and wellness are about your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. If you want to live a long and full life. It’s important to start focusing on health and wellness now. In fact, I believe that setting goals for health and wellness in 2022 will help you focus on the long-term picture of what you want in life.
Goal 1: Exercise
Exercise is vital, no matter what health goal you’re trying to achieve. Whether you’re trying to lose weight or build muscle mass, increasing your cardio can help get there, especially if you start exercising as a way of treating yourself. Schedule workouts into your schedule (i.e., I work out at 6 am Monday through Friday so I can hit a gym before work) so that they become an important part of your routine rather than something you think about but never actually do.
Goal 2: Eat Healthy
Choose foods that promote health and wellness, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. These foods are high in antioxidants. They can help protect against heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and fiber. They also fill you up more easily than processed foods full of fat or sugar. And fiber keeps your bowels healthy by moving waste through your system more quickly so you’re less likely to suffer from constipation or bloating.
Goal 3: Manage Stress
Manage stress by taking frequent breaks from work, getting enough sleep, writing a to-do list for the next day, and planning ahead to make sure you have everything you need. While it’s unlikely that you can completely eliminate your stress level, being proactive about stress management can help reduce your stress load. So focus on health and wellness today so that you can feel great in 2022!
Goal 4: Quit Smoking
It may be hard, but it can be done. If you want to live longer and healthier, I encourage you to put an end to smoking. Quitting smoking is a goal for many of us with good reason!
Research shows that smokers have a significantly higher chance of suffering from heart disease, cancer, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and even some common forms of arthritis.
Put down your cigarettes today and pursue a healthier lifestyle starting now!
Goal 5: Read Non-fiction Books
Read one nonfiction book every month. Nonfiction books broaden your knowledge base, take you out of your comfort zone, and help you see how others achieve success. This will make it easier for you to set goals because you’ll be able to look at successful people who are achieving what you want.
Goal 6: Try Yoga (or Something New) Every Month
Think of some health regimen you haven’t explored. Make it a resolution to do something new every month, even if it’s just yoga, going out for ice cream with friends, or learning how to play tennis. The trick is making sure you keep your resolutions as simple as possible so that they actually stick. Health and wellness are two things we can all benefit from more.
Goal 7: Walk More
Being active is one of the best ways to achieve overall health and wellness. If you want better health, you must begin by increasing your level of activity every day. Make a habit of walking more. Set a goal that you want to walk for 30 minutes each day, three times per week, but increase your activity little by little over time. You’ll feel better! Walking is an easy way to get moving and achieve greater health at work or at home. Start today!
Goal 8: Sleep Better at Night
Sleep is not just a necessity, it’s also critical for our overall health. One study found that people who sleep less than six hours per night are at higher risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. While you can’t change your natural need for sleep, which varies from person to person. You can work towards making sleep a priority by establishing a consistent bedtime routine each night.
Goal 9: Reduce Screen Time for Self-Care Only
Adults spend about 10 hours a day staring at screens, according to some estimates. This includes time spent scrolling through social media, playing games, or watching television.
Studies have shown that there’s a strong correlation between time spent looking at screens and an increased risk of depression, anxiety, diabetes, and other health issues. Commit to cutting down your screen time in 2019 by focusing only on self-care activities. It could be anything from reading a book to meditating. Your mind will thank you later!
Goal 10: Engage in Activities You Enjoy
The beauty of achieving your health and wellness goals is that you can incorporate them into your life however you like. Don’t see yourself as a gym person? Go for a walk with friends or family instead. Perhaps you have young children who keep you busy throughout most of your waking hours; take advantage of their naps, when they’re safely asleep, by engaging in physical activity such as yoga, Pilates, or cardio at home.
