10 Useless Goals in Life That People Strive For
Don’t waste your time with these.
Aside from all the Instagram flexing, I’ve figured out what everyone’s guilty pleasure is. Ready? Striving for random goals just because [insert influencer here] said so.
I mean, if you look inside my head right now, you’d find mountains of things I’m aiming for but don’t need. There’s so much crap that gets in the way of our end-goal it’s ridiculous. So let’s clean all of that out, shall we?
Here are ten useless goals you strive for but you don’t need.
- The latest fashion— I used to be crazy about the newest Jordans. My mom wouldn’t dare let me step in a Foot Locker. Now that I work so much, I find myself using only one pair of shoes. I’m too focused on my end-goal to worry about the latest footwear.
- A snazzy car — Now I love watching videos on the newest Ferrari. But in all honesty, I can’t see myself driving one every day even if I had the money to get one. I get bored driving my mom’s brand new car right now.
- Awards — Having an award means nothing. If anything it’s a signifier that you did what you were told and followed the rules better than anyone else. Give it a couple of years and it’ll be sitting in your attic collecting dust.
- A successful business — It sounds pretty good to say to all your friends that you run a successful business. To say you’re an entrepreneur. But that’s all it’s good for. If you’re not ready to work hard, don’t play the entrepreneur card.
- Fame — I’d way rather be rich than famous. I don’t want to be some Michael Jackson of the world who can’t leave their house. That’s why I laugh when I see so many people chasing the social media clout. It’s not worth it.
- To be a productive person — Everyone seems to fake it till they make it now when it comes to productivity. Like, if you wake up at 5:30 am, put in your AirPods, go to the gym, and sit at your computer, you’re productive. Nah, man. Just allocate your time more efficiently and you got it.
- Another successful person to like you — I’m the biggest fangirl out there. But I’m not dying for someone else’s approval of my work. Some successful “geniuses” out there have a god complex and they can keep that.
- To be a leader — I can’t lead shit and I’m content with that. Some people are built for that job so I’m happy to let them take the floor. I just want to write and give meaningful advice to the people around me — not be a leader.
- A vacation — There’s a time and place for vacations. If you want to travel your whole life, then you should have a good reason for doing it. What’s wrong with where you live now? I’m pretty sure you haven’t even seen everything in your own state.
- Being the most beautiful person — We all have our own insecurities and that’s fine. My problem is with the people who constantly look in the mirror and force their bodies to change because they flat out hate how they look. At least have an ounce of pride in your natural beauty.
Final Thoughts
I just find this stuff pointless.
Most of this has to do with either money, fame, or power to impress others. It’s not worth it dog. Stop trying to look at yourself from outside optics and focus on the inside. Talk to your loved ones, play with your dog, I don’t care what it is.
Just love yourself and this weird process called life.
