10 Things to Give UP in. Order to Progress !!! ✍️
I encourage you not to read this article if you are completely satisfied with your current state, if you do not want to progress, if you do not want to learn, if you are sure that you cannot improve. But if you are ambitious, like me, you will definitely read this article. Here are 10 things you need to get rid of in order to move forward.

- Letting other people’s opinions control your life. How many times does it not happen that you do not do what you think is right because it is not in the social norm? How many times have you given up on your dreams to avoid upsetting others? How many times do you leave yourself behind? By no means am I telling you to completely ignore the opinions of those around you, but they shouldn’t be the rules by which you build your daily living.
- The shame of past failures. Whoever said that you learn from mistakes was very wise. But failures should remain just that, a lesson. The moment you feel a pressure in your stomach or chest caused by the shame caused by a past defeat, it means you have a problem. Don’t be ashamed of your shame, but get over it quickly. Stuck in the swamp of past failures, we have no way to fight our way to future successes.
- Don’t be decided what you want. I’m a Libra, so I’m often indecisive. But how many of us are just stalling because we can’t decide where to go? How many of us hesitate because we can’t decide what we want? They say a bad decision is often better than no decision at all. At least you’ll know what not to do (see learning from mistakes above). Take your fate in your hands and decide!
- Procrastinating on goals that matter to you. It means that actually they don’t really matter. Let me tell you how to recognize if you fit in here. Do you have a habit of putting off really important tasks because you know they’re hard and take longer? Do you start the day with comfortable and easy tasks and then when you get to tackle the important goal you realize it’s too late and leave it for tomorrow? And then the day after tomorrow, and so on? Americans have a saying, eat the frog — start the day with the unpleasant but important task. Suddenly, you’ll be one step closer to your grand goal.
- To choose to do nothing. It’s convenient to do nothing, right? Why complicate your existence? Want to leave something behind? Do you want your life experience to be meaningful? Do you want those around you to appreciate and rely on you? Then do something!
- The need to always be right. This is a difficult one. The human ego is very strong. And the older we get, the more difficult the struggle to keep it in check. The man who knows everything has not yet been born. Stay all day and learn in various fields? Do you read at least one book a day? Have you seen all the documentaries out there? Have you practiced all the trades, arts and crafts? In addition, do you train daily in all sports? Are you also a polyglot? Superman, congratulations! The rest of us mortals must learn the virtue of silence and free ourselves from the burden of always being right. Remember what Socrates said: “The only thing I know for sure is that I know nothing.”
- To run from the problems that need to be solved. Many of us operate on the principle, let it work itself out. It is more convenient to wait for others to solve our problems. But how good it would feel to know that all your problems are solved. You would suddenly have time to deal with future plans, read, learn, develop. Don’t be bothered by problems and worries.
- Making excuses instead of making decisions. Among the national sports of Romanians, you can find giving your opinion, looking for the guilty and finding an excuse. The moment someone criticizes you, argues with you for something you did wrong, didn’t do well or even at all, instead of thinking about solutions, you don’t even hear what the interlocutor is saying anymore and you start thinking about what excuses to invoke: I didn’t have time, I didn’t know, my colleague confused me, my dog ate my homework, the child is sick, the wife is away, the traffic is hellish, it’s too cold/hot, etc. By occupying your mind and time with excuses, you don’t have enough time to make decisions and find solutions.
- Go over the positive things in your life quickly. If failures and upsets grind us down long after they happened, we often get over the joys, the successes, the beautiful moments with our loved ones too quickly. We get so lost in the usual, repetitive things that we forget to appreciate them. We forget to appreciate the taste of food, the scent of flowers, the sunlight, the voice of those close to us, the jokes of friends, not to mention all those material possessions that a large part of the population does not have and we do. Sit down tonight and write down on a piece of paper all the positive things that exist at this time in your life, and if you focus and are honest and open, you’ll be amazed at how long the list will become.
- Don’t appreciate the present. Unfortunately, there are so many of us who are crushed by the problems of the past and blinded by the challenges of the future that we forget to live in the present. The times with which we are contemporaries are focused on speed, and this can very easily steal our perspective of the present, always thinking about whether we have forgotten something or whether we could not do a task better, or thinking about tomorrow, about plans For future.
- And our present to whom do we leave it? Who will live it for us? The subconscious lives unconsciously, but is that what we want? Take a break from everything you are doing right now, clear your mind and start enjoying the present moment. NOW!
