10 Things About Myself Challenge

Aww this challenge brings me right back to my hand written notes in class and LiveJournal days, thank you for the tag Rusty Shackleford! Reading your responses was so much fun, you’re a deep intellect with a quick wit and I love that you break the rules and write what you want. ❤
I also love and appreciate your “plaid” choice as your favorite color, it was tempting to also choose plaid for the same reasons. (random, related fun fact: one time I got in trouble for wearing my pajama flannel shirt to school over my black tee shirt because “it was pajamas”, and my mom found it distasteful to wear PJ’s to school. I was also once grounded for eating my sister’s chicken from her take out container, but that’s a different story).
Linda Ng originally started this challenge/ writing prompt with ten questions to answer about yourself for your readers. I love how Linda describes passing notes, we absolutely did this in middle and high school. I distinctly remember passing a note with my friend about some of our favorite songs that had played at the middle school 7th and 8th grade dances we used to have (did you have those in your hometown, too??)

Questions
- Favourite drink? Water, always water. If not flat water, then canned Polar Seltzer’s Cranberry Lime.
- Favourite colour? Pretty much any shade of green, my top favorites being forest green and beach grass green (that might not be an official color, but I’m making it up anyways).
- If you won the lottery, what are the top 3 things you would do first? Pay off my student loans, save enough (okay, maybe more than enough) for retirement for my fiancé and myself, and then honestly probably just distribute the rest to my family members, specifically those with kids. I don’t want a lot in life and am very happy with what I already have, aside from a house. Okay, I’d probably also buy ourselves a house. 4 things, I cheated.
- Favourite cuisine? Thai. Discovering thai fresh summer rolls was one of the greatest days of my life.
- Would you give up social media or your cell phone 📱 forever? I’m with Rusty Shackleford — is Medium social media? Because in that case, I couldn’t. We do however unfortunately live in a world now where everyone texts, so giving up my phone would be incredibly difficult to do, even though I’m (proudly) terrible with my phone. I never use my phone while driving, I don’t respond promptly, and I almost always miss phone calls (unless I’m interviewing, which hopefully won’t be for a long time again. If I’m interviewing, I answer to too many, “Hi, is this Sarah? Can we tell you about a great opportunity…?”, to which I honestly just started hanging up on. I can’t be bothered, and frankly find it rude for the person to be calling me in the first place).
- 6. One thing you’re really good at? Oh goodness, this comes off as me tooting my own horn and I kind of hate that, but whatever. I understand my voice and vocal cords very well. I can sing, do impressions, and alter my voice to sound like characters like Elmo and that cat that goes, “Oh Long Johnson”.
- 7. Cats or dogs? 🐱🐶 Impossible to choose now after having each. I’ve always loved cats and dogs. I had a cat growing up and loved her, she’d snuggle with me when I went to bed at night. I was always the friend at people’s houses to try and get all of the animals on my lap at one time, too. Sometimes it worked, I’ve always been better with animals than with people. I think I understand them better, I don’t know? Sorry, now I need to be that fur baby parent who tells you all about my animals. The equivalent of, WANNA SEE PICTURES OF MY KIDS *whips out wallet*!?!? The things we do that make us become our own parents scares me, I swear… Our cat Belmont is the biggest cuddle bug you’d ever meet. He’s a bombay cat. He meets us at the door (when our dog is in her crate), and has a very loving personality. He loves his belly rubs and getting his chin scratched. He does knock things over sometimes when he’s hungry, but he’s such a little love bug. He’s very smart. He loves his people, his play mice, and watching the birds both on TV and through the window outside. I love watching him do all of that, and love knowing he loves us and the life we provide for him. ❤ I love our dog Bindi girl so much, too! She’s an American Foxhound, Black Lab, Great Pyrenees mix. Our dog is the greatest dog. Anyone who knows her would likely tell you the same, too. I honestly feel bad, I think some of our dog park friends legitimately wish their own dogs had some of Bindi’s temperament. She just has the most incredible personality though, and she’s so easy to train. She is very sweet, loving, and smart. She loves all other dogs, I don’t recall her having a problem with any of the other dogs (this is almost to a fault though, since she’s also too submissive). She loves to learn new things, playing “find it/ find me” since she’s a hound, walking, running, napping, and guarding the house with her rare barks when other dogs bark.
- 8. Coffee drinker? ☕️ Only one [larger] mug in the morning. Lately I’ve been loving my coffee with a splash of unsweetened almond milk and cinnamon, it’s a great way to jazz it up for winter without any sugar. I also like to have a green tea around 1 or 2pm every day.
- 9. What languages can you speak? English mostly. I know bits of small talk style conversational French and Spanish.
- 10. Can you use chopsticks? Yes, but I don’t know if I use them correctly. We tried getting some chopstick trainers from HMart, but they were kids size and our fingers didn’t fit the holes.
Aw this was fun to participate in! Thank you again Rusty Shackleford! :) I’d now love to nominate some Medium friends of mine, with no pressure to participate: Joejohn Black, ItsAlwaysRightNow, Perfectly Imperfect, Miriam Slozberg, Natalie, Celeste Wilson, and Kathleen Blahovec.
Let’s learn more about one another! :)
