10 Questions to ask on the 1st Date
These questions will prevent the awkward silence from occurring

Dating is pressure and tension. What is a date, really, but a job interview that lasts all night?

Are you excited about your first date but unsure what to talk about? This article has you covered. We will give you 10 questions to ask on a first date that will lead to great conversations and break the ice.
Just remember, that anything you choose to discuss on the date should bring positive vibes. All topics that bring on negative feelings need to be left at home. Also, this isn’t an interview, so do not ask multiple questions consecutively, without a smooth conversational flow.
Have some fun with these topics and get to know your date. The object is to find out if you are compatible. With that being said, here is the list:
1. What are you looking for? You have to make sure you are both looking for the same thing out of a partner, or else the date is meaningless. One can’t be looking for a hookup while the other is focused on a long-term relationship.
2. What have you learned about yourself from previous relationships?
Talking about prior relationships is not always a bad thing. It can be spun in a positive light when talking about improvements you have made from them.
3. Who are the special people in your life? Everyone has special people in their life who they love and want to talk about. This is an easy question to start a pleasant conversation.
4. What are you working on, regarding yourself?
People love talking about the goals and aspirations they are currently focused on. This question will give insight into their ambitions.
5. What’s something you want to learn, or wish you were better at?
This is one of my favorite questions. It gets your date to think long and hard about things they have always wanted to excel at.
6. If you were stuck in a lift, what celebrities would you want around to make it easier?
These conversations regarding past and present celebrities to spend time with are always fascinating.
7. What is your favorite concert/live performance you ever witnessed?
Who isn’t into music? Only weird people, right? This question will sure to bring about a friendly debate on musical taste.
8. If you went to therapy, what would you go for?
Mental health is finally getting the focus it needs. Most people are aware of how important it is to take care of your mental health. This question could lead to an interesting conversation.
9. What is your greatest fear? Be careful with this one. Make sure you have built rapport before asking this question because it’s pretty deep.
10. What is on your bucket list? Now you can phrase the question differently if you like. Not everyone likes the term. However, it’s fun to talk about places to visit and things to do before leaving this planet.
All of these topics are conversation starters and will help you avoid those awkward moments of silence. Remember, these are meant to break the ice.
Once the ice is broken, it’s your responsibility to navigate through the rest of the date. Be interesting, share funny stories, listen and respond, and most importantly, be yourself. I hope you take a few suggestions from this article and as always, stay positive!
