It’s challenging to make big changes in your routine; however, you can add some simple changes to give your day that added boost! Here is a list of how you can make 10 small, yet positive changes every day:

Extend your morning

It might seem ironic to experience an improvement in your morning by rising earlier; however, allowing yourself an extra 10 minutes in your morning will ease you into the day. Rising late and having to scramble for a comb and toothbrush will cause anxiety before you even reach the door. In having a little extra time to stretch, make yourself some breakfast, or grab a cup of coffee, it’s possible to ease into work or school day ready to go and free of stress.

Jazz things up

Instead of listening to the morning news, which is usually negative, while sipping on a hot cup of coffee or tea, try listening to jazz every morning, as you write your articles or check your email.

In order to increase your energy levels for the day that lies ahead of you, warm up your body and mind on the way to school or work. Get a book on tape, download a podcast, or turn up the music. Finding something you really enjoy and making that a part of your morning routine during what’s typically not the most thrilling part of the day will provide an unexpected boost.

Drink water

This might seem a little basic, but the odds are you are not staying hydrated enough. Carrying around a water bottle and ensuring that you aren’t dehydrated will make your body and your day a little healthier.

Offer two compliments

Is there someone in class who always tells the best jokes or a coworker/friend who is always there to cheer you up when you are feeling blue or annoyed? Tell them how amazing they are, and offer them a compliment. Your entire day will improve while helping to brighten up someone else’s.

Appreciate yourself

You also deserve a compliment! Choose something you love about yourself and repeat that to yourself all day. Self-love is critical.

Smile

Even if you’re in a bad mood, smiling will release endorphins, and make you feel better. Therefore, flash those pearly whites and give yourself a little boost!

Create an inspiration board

Always developing new ideas, or have something you have always wanted to accomplish? Look for a free space on the wall or a corkboard then decorate it using a list of goals, pictures, and inspirational quotes. That way, it’s possible to visualize your goals and then remind yourself of what you need to accomplish for yourself.

Exercise

Exercise will improve your mood and health. Walk outside, or take the stairs rather than the elevator. If you have an insane workload, walk in place as you sift through flashcards, or go on break and do some jumping jacks to get your heart pumping. Also, working out strengthens the brain, and regular exercise will improve your memory!

Jot down 3 best parts of your day

There are so many incredible things, both major and minor, that occur on a daily basis; therefore, before heading to bed, acknowledge what you liked about the day to end the evening with a positive vibe.

Get adequate sleep

Go to sleep at a reasonable hour and ensure that you get at least 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night. Feeling refreshed rather than sluggish and exhausted will make the next day a lot more enjoyable, and helps you feel better and focus all throughout the day.
