This is an awesome, modern version of “I got this”. Music— Gratitude

20 Of My Favorite Songs, Albums, Or Groups

My favorite music challenge

Image by the author using NightCafeStudio

Hey, I am doing this really fun challenge. It’s not an ‘official’ challenge, but I’m sharing it with everyone because I think it’ll be a good time.

Thanks to Binky Ink Writing, and Vinitha Dileep, I am turning this into a combination challenge. A challenge filled with the music I am grateful for.

I’m having to think about this. I had to go and get my Kindle because all I listen to anymore is singing bowls all day. So, my list is of all the music that I go to if I feel like listening to something else, usually when I’m in the bathroom doing stuff. Yes, I have a cleaning soundtrack. That being said, I wasn’t able to cut this off at 10. Just as a warning, I tend to prefer the tracks that weren’t released as singles.

These are in no particular order.

  1. Ludovico Einaudi Night — From the album Elements This is the first favorite song that comes from my favorite album. I LOVE Einaudi’s music. I have 12 of his albums. Einaudi’s music heals me and makes my soul sing.

2. Evanescence My Immortal I have had no experience, during this incarnation, that relates literally to the lyrics of this song. It appeals to me on a creative level. Being in a relationship where you give that person everything, and you become everything for them. How beautifully, and succinctly the lyrics depict the grief of an unexpected, possibly even an unexplained break-up, and how even the music mirrors that feeling. The hole left in my soul because it/we aren’t finished, not to me, sentiment.

3. Lindsey Stirling Warmer In The Winter Second of the ‘my favorite song is on my favorite album’. This one is the title track. Warmer In The Winter is Lindsey’s Christmas album. Warmer In The Winter is her original Christmas song. The rest of the album is all of her favorite Christmas songs. She also sings Warmer In The Winter. I love this song because it is an original. Warmer has this Big Band Era sound, and I love that as well.

4. Queen Lily of the Valley and The Show Must Go On I have two favorite songs from Queen. To be honest, I love most of Queen’s music. Lily of the Valley from Sheer Heart Attack (1974) is mostly tied with another Queen song, The Show Must Go On from Innuendo (1991). I tend to like theatrical songs. LOL What I love about Lily Of The Valley is, again, my soul sings when I listen to this song. I love everything about it. The piano, Freddy’s voice, and the lyrics. The Show Must Go On was my life theme for a while. I was 24 in 1991 when that song came out, just before my 25th birthday. I was feeling like my world had crashed and burned around me, and it felt like I was the only one who cared. That song became my anthem that year and for many years after.

5. Queensryche Silent Lucidity Silent Lucidity from the album Empire (1990). It’s the words to this song that I love the most. The classical guitar is beautiful. When this song came out, very few people were talking about The Simulation or Dream Experiment. Now comes this song that gives you directions for controlling it. Some people believe they are singing about Dream control. Others believe they are singing about Manifesting. Then there are still others who say it’s neither, someone died. I’ll let you draw your conclusions.

6. Daughtry It’s Not Over I love the band Daughtry. It’s Not Over is from the album Daughtry. This is the one song that I can listen to on repeat. I don’t know why. I get lost in Chris Daughtry’s voice.

7. Blue Foundation Eyes On Fire Eyes On Fire is from the Twilight Soundtrack. This is an awesome, modern version of “I got this”. I love that the music is played in a way that makes it seem like someone is hunting, plotting, or patiently waiting for that right moment.

8. Imagine Dragons I’ve got to be honest. I can’t pick a favorite song or album from Imagine Dragons. I love them all. They are my favorite band. I picked the video Whatever It Takes. Honestly, I chose this song because it had a decent sound and video.

9. Nickelback Like Imagine Dragons, I love almost every song by Nickelback, so I picked the video If Today Was Your Last Day. I like the question. What would you do if you knew today was your last day?

10. Tori Amos Winter I LOVE Tori Amos. The song Winter comes from the Under The Pink album. It is my favorite song of hers. I have a favorite song on each of her albums but not a favorite album. I love them all, so what I listen to depends upon my mood.

I was born in the mid-sixties and there is a lot of music from that period that I still listen to. Instead of searching for videos, I’m just going to list who still makes my hippie heart go pitter-patter.

Again, in no particular order.

11. CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival) — LOVE 12. The Mama’s and The Papa’s 13. The Turtle’s 14. Billy Joel 15. Supertramp 16. Fleetwood Mac 17. Pink Floyd 18. Kansas 19. Elton John 20. Eagles

Music has helped me define myself, heal, express emotions I didn’t have the words for, and figure out who I am. Music inspires me to create art, written or drawn, whether on a canvas, paper, or computer. Music illuminates my differences while simultaneously spotlighting my similarities. I am grateful for music being a part of my life.

There you have it. The music I listen to when I want to hear something other than singing bowls. I had a lot of fun compiling this list. There is a lot of music that didn’t make it. Especially from the seventies and eighties.

Let’s keep the conversation going. Share with me your favs or just join in the challenge.

Thanks for hanging out with me. I hope you enjoy the video clips.
