Abstract

The web content titled "10 Negative Influences That Affect Self Awareness" delves into various external and internal factors that can detrimentally affect an individual's self-awareness. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing these influences to maintain a healthy sense of self. Toxic friends are identified as those who exploit or negatively impact one's life, and the article suggests a method to identify and potentially distance oneself from such friends. Internet arguments are discouraged as they are seen as unproductive and distracting from personal development. The role of family, including parents and other relatives, is complex, with the article acknowledging that sometimes family members can be a source of negativity that one must learn to manage or distance from. Self-criticism is discussed as a double-edged sword that, when excessive, can be harmful rather than constructive. Ex-partners are noted as being part of the past for good reasons, and reconnecting with them can be detrimental. The article also touches on the dangers of high expectations and the importance of self-trust. Work-related stress is presented as a significant factor in personal well-being, given the time spent at work. Bad habits like substance abuse are warned against, with a call to seek healthier alternatives. Lastly, the article underscores the significance of personal mentality, suggesting that one's mindset can shape their entire life experience.

Opinions

  • Toxic friends should be identified and potentially removed from one's life, as they can be a source of negativity and personal exploitation.
  • Engaging in internet arguments is a waste of time and energy that could be better spent on self-improvement.
  • Family members, including parents, should not be exempt from scrutiny regarding their influence on one's life; negative family relationships may need to be addressed or severed.
  • Self-criticism should be constructive, not destructive, and individuals should be mindful of how they speak to themselves.
  • Ex-partners are labeled as such for valid reasons, and rekindling such relationships is likened to consuming poison.
  • Unrealistic expectations can lead to self-doubt and a lack of authenticity if one is not true to themselves.
  • Work stress is inevitable but should be managed to prevent it from eroding self-awareness and personal growth.
  • Bad habits are detrimental to one's mental and physical health and should be replaced with healthier alternatives or quit entirely.
  • Mentality is a defining factor in an individual's life, and maintaining a positive or goal-oriented mindset is crucial for success and well-being.

10 Negative Influences That Affect Self Awareness

Negative influences are never a good thing to have in your life. Our self awareness is always something that we need to keep in mind so knowing what can damage it is the first step to helping to prevent it.

Toxic Friends

Who wants a friend that is mooching off of you, only helping you for their own benefit, takes their stress out on you, or a “friend” that benefits from your success. Nobody wants those kinds of friends but many people find it hard to really find out who that person is.

Here is a little thing that you can try that I have personally used to get rid of my dead weight. Call them! Who is them? All those people that you call your friends and ask them all for a ride. If they say no and don’t give a good enough reason then they gotta go! Whatever you choose is ultimately your choice but it’s a valid suggestion.

Internet Arguments

Don’t even engage with these clowns. You are much better than arguing with someone you don’t even know. The person you should be more concerned about is you. What do you feel is right? Well, go with that instinct.

You should only be impressing yourself.

Parents

Parents are our stepping stones in life but sometimes they gotta be let go. If you find that your parents are using you for their personal gain, putting their wife above you, ruin your childhood. Oh, sorry I was speaking about my personal reason for getting rid of one of my parents.

Toxic Family Members

Not all family is looking out for your best interest. Which family is mooching off of you, which one has addictions they can’t shake, which ones are asking you to do all their work? Maybe they are the problem.

They say that blood is thicker than water but from my personal experience, I have found it to not always be the case.

If you see a venomous snake then take the head off of it. Even if the snake is family.

Self Criticism

You’re an idiot! What the heck were you thinking! Why do you always forget everything!

We can be the biggest critic and sometimes it can be a bad thing. Self-criticism is meant to help bring us out of the muck and not drag us further down in it.

Exes

They are exes for reasons. If they weren’t your ex then they would be your current.

Just because your thirsty doesn’t mean you should drink poison.

Expectations

Expectations can be a good thing but at times they can be a bad thing. Letting ourselves down is very bad for us in many ways. You got to be able to trust yourself in everything you do otherwise you are just as fake as the rest of those fake friends.

Work Hassles

That 9 to 5 is your second home. You spend more than half your life working so work hassles are a definite self-awareness digresser.

Bad Habits

Should I speak on bad habits? Smoking brings on more anxiety, liquor makes you impaired, meth is never good.

Leave those bad habits alone and focus on safe alternatives or cold turkey it!

Personal Mentality

Mentality affects everything. You can have a Positive Mentality, Negative Mentality, Working Mentality, Business Owner Mentality, Teacher Mentality, Student Mentality, Healthy Living Mentality, or a Junk Food Mentality. Our Mentality really defines us.

Don’t let these 10 different negative influences affect your Self Awareness.
