“Meditation is like a gym in which you develop the powerful mental muscles of calm and insight.” — Ajahn Brahm

Mindfulness can be practiced in various forms. As long as you are trying to calm your mind, be in the present, and work on your focus, you are practicing mindfulness.

For some listening to music and painting is same as practicing mindfulness. For some reading and writing. The most common practice of mindfulness is meditation. I meditated for 10 minutes a day for the last 1 year and here I’ll be discussing how I feel. I am sure you will feel the same way too if you practice it every single day.

I feel calmer

If you knew me a year ago, I’m sure you would state one thing about me — “ he gets irritated easily even on small things”.

Well, I can tell the difference now. Because:

I can feel myself

It’s an incredible feeling — something that can’t be described. You will develop an understanding and have a better compatibility score with yourself. If that makes sense.

Developing a better understanding of your actions will lead to better decision making. And I can see that for myself now.

The resting heartbeat per minute dropped

A low resting heartbeat is a sign of better heart condition and less risk of heart diseases. My resting heartbeat dropped from the 60s to the 50s.

The less anxious you are throughout the day, the more relaxed is your heart.

Less anxiousness

Even if I am put into a pressure situation, I get less anxious. That allows me to understand the problem in hand, break it down, and make better decisions going forward with the task.

Prasanta Banerjee one year ago in such situations would first freak out and then make all the crazy decisions — -some go for and some against me.

Increase in Self-Belief

Because I am calmer and get less anxious, the self-belief that I can perform a set of tasks has increased. This results in better productivity which brings me to the next point:

Easier to gain focus — Increase in the ability to concentrate

I am not distracted easily these days. Even if I’m, there is a feeling that I can get back my focus. I can concentrate better on high priority tasks.

This again increases the productivity and hence even higher self-belief. It’s a vicious cycle. All linked together.

I get Deep Sleep

Thanks to my meditation, it has improved my poor sleeping habits. Previously, I was one such person who wouldn’t get sleep all night and then be tired throughout the day. I am sure some of you can relate to this. Well for those who do relate, this will be one of the first things meditation will improve.

And last but not least:

Peace

You will want peace. Slowly you will build a liking to be away from craziness and chaos. You will start liking solitude.

I highly recommend all of you to give only 10 minutes a day to meditation.

You will see the results yourself.

See you tomorrow. :)

Regards.
